ADMISSION 2013-14

Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute managed College of Social Work is offering Master of
Social Work programme (self-financed) since 2010, which is of two year full time course. It is
the only English Medium course affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and
in Ahmedabad.

The programme consists of four semesters with a prime focus to prepare to meet the globally
demanded needs of professionally trained social workers. Apart from regular teaching classes,
intensive field work, block placement, tribal camp, study tour, orientation and exposure visits,
guest lectures by eminent speakers, project work, study based assignments etc. are building
skills and competencies of students to expose them with the current prospects and challenges in
the field of social work. The value driven education atmosphere of the institute enables
students to perform what they have gained through teaching and guidance.

As per the guidelines of the university, the institute enrols limited number of students in the
course. This further helps the qualified faculty to give individual attention to students for their
professional development and also facilitates them to take up innovative educational activities.

Qualification for Admission to MSW

Any Graduate of any faculty who has obtained degree from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat
University, Patan or other universities with 45% is eligible to the admission to MSW.
Relaxation of 5% will be given to the applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled
Tribe and Other Backward Class categories. Applicant who wants to avail benefits under
reserved seats shall be required to attach caste certificate issued by the competent authority
with his/her application form.

Reserved Seats
The following categories of applicants are entitled for reservation.
1. Scheduled Caste Students : 7%
2. Scheduled Tribe Students: 15%
3. Socially and Economically Backward Classes Students: 27%
(If widow and orphan of any caste apply as student-maximum 2%)
4. Reserved progeny of existing/ex, service men: 1%
5. Physically challenged : 3% from the respective categories
Infrastructure Facilities
Creating comfortable learning atmosphere is inevitable part of any educational institution;
MGLI is also adding such an important element to its students. Currently it provides facilities

 Air conditioned and well stock computerized Library with books, magazines, individual
reading cubes, journals etc.
 A well equipped Air Conditioned Computer Lab with internet facility.

 A well furnished hostel building

 A.C. Auditorium with audio-visual equipments.

Admission Procedure

Admission shall be granted on the basis of merit.

Application Form and Fee

Application form is available from the institute on all working days from 11.00am to 5.00pm.
or can be downloaded from www.mgliahd.org. The dully filled in form with necessary
documents along with Demand Draft of Rs.300/- (Non-refundable) of any nationalized bank in
favour of “HNGU Madhyastha Pravesh Samiti 2013-14” Payable at Patan should be enclosed.

Tuition Fee

Rs.14000/- per semester.

Submission of Forms

The last date for submission of dully filled in form is 15th June, 2012. Applicants have to attach
self-attested copies of (a) leaving certificate (b) F.Y; S.Y; and T.Y. mark sheet, (c) recent
passport size colour photograph and (d) Demand Draft and (e) Caste certificate if applicable.

Note :
1. Applicants, who have completed their graduation degree prior to 2012, need to enclose
copy and original affidavit of discontinuation of his/her study along with application
form.
2. Applicants shall not engage themselves in any full time or part time employment as
course is full time and requires compulsory attendance as per university mandate.
