ENGINE TYPE L/S35MC since Mk6 , S42MC, S46MC-C

It was reported that the trouble about the start fail regarding the vessel over 5 years past after
delivery.
After examination, the working of the pneumatic valve shown as below turned out to be a
malfunction due to the aged deterioration.

1. Case example
<Content> The crank shaft dose not turn by the starting order from both remote control and local
control even though the main starting valve is worked.
<Cause> Malfunction of the inside rubber piston at POS. 26 and 117 due to lack of air tightness.
Starting air is not supplied to the start air valve.

<Content> The crank shaft dose not reverse by the stating order from remote control even though
the fuel cam reversing has been done.
<Cause> Malfunction of the inside rubber piston at POS. 57 due to lack of air tightness.
Start interlock works due to the imperfect reversing of the distributor.

“Ahead - Astern”, “Start - Stop” is controlled by working of the pneumatic maneuvering system.
Therefore, in case of malfunction as per previous page, engine runs into trouble as start fail by
remote control and local control.
We would like to recommend that regular maintenance under the maker recommendation about
not only those parts but also the other the pneumatic maneuvering system.

The end cover is fixed by the Torx bolt. (T25 hexa lobular internal bolts)
If the tool and the parts are needed, please kindly requested to place an purchase order to our
seals section about bond and wrench for trox bolt.
