First revision: Add the engine type, S46MCC (December 19, 2011)

Recently, we often received inquiry regarding the Thread Insert for exhaust valve housing. So, we
would like to inform you regarding the above-mentioned subject.
The Thread Insert, which is fixed in the female threads of the exhaust valve housing, is used and
inserted shown in the attached figure.

♦ The design concept for the Thread Insert application

The female thread material of exhaust valve housing doesn’t have high tightening force,
because the material is made of cast iron. It has possibilities of damage due to the exhaust valve
removed regularly for maintenance. Therefore, we apply the Thread Insert as a standard.
Please refer to the attached document.

♦ The characteristic of the Thread Insert

• The additional strength
The Thread Insert can be used as the female thread in light metals, plastics, cast iron, etc.,
which are too weak to be tapped directly. Thus, a high degree of confidence in the mated threads
is ensured.
• The durability
It is able to prevent the damage to the female thread by abrasion, corrosion, vibration, heat, etc.,
and also to the base material.
• The exchange
The Thread Insert can be easily changed, if it is damaged.

♦ Notice
If the Thread Insert is exchanged due to damage, it is necessary to use the special tool for repair.
When needed, you are kindly requested to place a purchase order to our service section.
