Answer 1)
A) Document the process of the development of your FE model.

Fig.1 FEA geometry

The method of creating the test specimen using the geometry tool and constrained space is followed by the
development of the FEA model in LS-dyna.

Fig.2 material property card

After creating the specimen, material selection and boundary condition play vital role in testing.
Further mode all 4 point of bending point has been defined and contact pair in between has been defined
and point lodes are applied to the specimen. Moreover, Curve has been defined which is shown in figure 4.

The value of DT0 is used as 0.5 to control the time steps. The integration's dynamic nature is controlled by
setting the IMASS value to 1. By applying load conditions to the four speres, load has been applied to the
component. The specimen's results are discussed.

B) Clearly present the findings from a loading condition which results in both elastic deformation and,
with continued application of the loading fixtures, elastic/plastic deformation within the beam.
Below figure is the representation of the beam under loading condition. Both side deformation can be seen
in following pictures.

Following figure represents the energy profile of the specimen under loading condition.

C) Under elastic loading conditions, is the predicted stress distribution consistent for a 4-point bending
condition? Justify your answer.

With the help of the experiment, it can be concluded that the elastic region of the specimen exhibits
consistency with regard to time for the stress zone that is subject to elastic loading. Additionally, it can be
shown that the specimen's von Missus stress indicates that the stress distribution under elastic loading
conditions is uniform for a four-point bending condition.

D) Does the estimation of the elastic modulus relate well to the actual value of the elastic modulus?

Elastic modulus can be defined as, 𝐸=𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠 / 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑛

𝐸=200.5∗106 / 2.95∗10-2 = 67.966Gpa

With the help of stress and strain evaluated elastic modulus is 68Gpa which is approximately same to the
taken value of elastic modulus.
