Global Warming and its Countermeasures

Astri Desmayanti

Human actions, particularly those associated with the use of fossil fuels and activities that
result in land use change, are to blame for the phenomena known as global warming. Through a
process known as the greenhouse effect, these activities result in gases that are present in the
atmosphere in greater and greater amounts, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2). The greenhouse
effect and global warming are two concepts that are very closely related. It is known as the
greenhouse effect because it causes the earth's temperature to rise as a result of heat being
trapped in the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect can actually be advantageous for human life,
but if it becomes too great, it will affect the earth's climate and weather. The greenhouse effect
can happen above the surface of the globe because up to 25% of solar energy entering the planet
is reflected by clouds or other atmospheric particles, 25% is absorbed by clouds, 45% is
absorbed by the surface of the earth, and another 5% is reflected back by the surface. Both
clouds and the earth's surface will reflect back the solar energy that has been absorbed in the
form of infrared radiation.
The effect of global warming is climate change, or events associated with climate
deviation, such as the occurrence of the three hydrometeorological disasters of hurricanes,
floods, and landslides, maybe in conjunction with strong sea waves that might result in fatalities
for people. The disaster resulted in material losses in addition to human life losses, such as
destruction to settlements and infrastructure, among other damages. The cause or source of the
issue must be identified in order to prevent or lessen the effects of global warming. There are
three strategies that can be used to combat global warming such as decreasing the production of
greenhouse gases and the greenhouse effect, cutting back on fuel-related air pollution, and not
wasting electricity.
The safety of the living things on the planet is threatened by greenhouse gases since high
temperatures can lead to climate change. Due to this, a number of actions can be taken to reduce
the greenhouse gas emissions that result from normal activities such as the energy sector's
efficiency, using private motorized vehicles less frequently, reducing the use of straws and
bottled water, minimizing organic waste, and cutting back on paper use. The general public's use
of mass transit, the restriction on the number of small public vehicles that can be licensed, the
mass production of vehicles, the regulation of private vehicle ownership, age restrictions on
vehicles, regular motor vehicle emission tests, and more trees are being planted particularly
along the sides of broad roadways are all steps taken to reduce air pollution caused by fuel. The
inefficient use of electricity is another factor in global warming. Because producing electricity
entails burning coal, which contributes to global warming, wasting power causes electrical
energy reserves to diminish over time. In order to prevent global warming, electricity
consumption should be used wisely as needed.
