Dry Area: Wash Basin Area : CP Fittings: Basin Mixers :
The CP fittings for the basin area necessarily includes a water outlet and controller for
the same. It is classified on various basis :
Classification on basis of Placement :
Wall mounted basin mixer with Concealed Part :
Mounted on the wall with a concealed part always

The concealed part goes behind the

wall and is responible for mixing hot
and cold water and sending it to spout.
A WALL MOUNTED BASIN MIXER
CANNOT BE INSTALLED WITHOUT A
CONCEAL PART WHICH NEEDS TO BE
INSTALLED BEFORE THE STONE / TILE IS.
Three hole wall mounted tap with concealed body :
Here the water outlet / spout, volume control for hot water ( left ) and control for
cold water are all separate.
Classification on basis of Placement :

Deck mounted basin mixer : Placed on the counter/ basin ledge . No Concealed
part is needed here, Only hot and cold angle wall points are required.

Classification on basis of Placement :

Deck mounted basin mixer on Basis of height : SHORT BODY TAPS

They are used with under counter basins/ over counter basins with tap hole/ Drop in
basins with tap hole/ semi reccessed basins with tap hole. The spout height is usually 5-
6” and the hand needs about 5” space between the basin and tap to accommodate and
move for washing. Most of the deck mounted Three hole basin mixer are short body
Classification on basis of Placement :

Deck mounted basin mixer on Basis of height : TALL BODY TAPS

They are used with over counter basins without tap hole/ Drop in basins. The spout
height is usually 10” and the hand needs about 5” space between the basin and tap to
accommodate and move for washing. In Drop in / Semi reccesed basins without tap hole
you may see which tap shall suit as per the height as too long a tap also cause water
spilling.

Classification on basis of Water Flow :
Foam Flow : It is the usual flow with
air and water mixed. This flow does
not allow water to splash after landing
on the basin and thus can be used
with shallow basins too.
The quality of mixing of Water and Air
depends on the aerator which should
be of superior quality as else a stream
of water will come instead of a froath
flow

Cascade flow : Water comes from

the faucet as from a waterfall. The
width of water is more than in foam
flow and chances of water splashing
are there due to force of water and
thus advised to use with deep bowl
basins.
Sensor Taps:
They can be Wall or Deck Mounted and usually come in Foam flow only.

The touch-less feature of it makes it widely used in Commercial places like Malls,
restaurants etc for the following reasons :

1. To maintain hygiene : since this avoids usage of hands to turn ON/OFF the faucet.
Multiple people do not touch the same handle which can cause to spread of
germs/virus,etc

2. To avoid wastage of water : Once sensed, the tap gives water for certain seconds
only thus making sure water is not wasted in commercial places.

They can be electric or battery operated.

Back drops :
They don’t have in built temperature control catridge.
They come in basic Shapes.

Further details of same to be read in Acquaviva Sensor Tap PPT.

Notes on Controllers :
Controller used in three-hole basin spouts : one hole is occupied by the spout, one
by hot water volume controller and other by cold water volume controller. Various
designs of knobs available.

b. Controller used in two hole and one-hole spouts : known as single lever basin
mixers, these levers use only one lever for controlling the volume ( up & down
movement ) of water and setting the temperature ( sideways movement ). They can
be a part of the spout or can be placed separately on the wall/ counter. Various
designs such as square, round and joystick available.

c. Progressive cartridge : In this the lever only moves clockwise. The volume of water
remains fixed and as you go from one extreme side to another, the temperature
increases.
Dry Area: WC Area :
Wall Hung WC : These WCs are fixed on
the wall without taking any support from
the floor. Usually make use of P trap.

Mostly WC displayed in showroom are wall

mounted.

Floor Mounted WC : These WCs are fixed

on the floor. Floor may come in P trap or S
trap.

These WCs were used earlier a lot but in

modern times usually wall mounted are
used because :
i. New Design
ii. Ease of cleaning
Dry Area: WC Area :

New features in plain WC :

Rimless – The overall lipping is removed from the inside and water comes from back side in
Vortex movement. This prevents accumulation of germs which were earlier easier to spot.
Sleek seat cover – For ease of back rest.
Quick release seat cover – For easy and effective cleaning of the area around hinges.
Goes in wall

Note: Many Italian Companies provide the

options for both P- trap and S –trap on Floor
mounted WC; But prior to client Order need to
confirm.
Electronic WC
• An electronic WC or eToilet are self-contained, self-cleaning, unisex, user-
friendly, unmanned, automated and remotely monitored WCs. They all
need an electric connection with a stabilizer can come with various
features depending on the price such as inbuilt jet, seat heating, seat
sensor opening, automatic flushing. Detailed of this is in Toto product
presentation.

Wet Area: Shower area : Hand showers :

Multi flow : Usually come with a round diameter of about 4 inches and allows user to
change between two – three functions. The functions can be changed using a button or
a sliding button.
Hand showers :
Single flow : Single flow hand showers are sleek handshowers usually in a cylinder /
rectangle shape. They may also come with a dia like multiflow showers but in single
flow.
Types of Hanging arrangements :
1. Separate outlet and separate hook
2. Outlet and hook in same piece
3. Separate outlet with rail
4. Outlet from rail itself
In all above situations it is necessary to make notes about the chosen option in technical
drawing to arch to avoid any wrong plumbing point.

Use of rail : Rail allows the user to adjust the height and angle of hand shower as per user
and use the same without holding it. It is frequently used by female users to avoid
wetting hair from over head / rain shower. Also used in budget bathrooms to avoid
spending on over head shower by putting it on center with / without a spout

Wet Area: Shower area :Body jets :
Body jets are additional shower features added on the wall to spray water on the body
from the front/ back / side instead of top like showers. The small ones usually
come in multiples of 2.
1. Exposed body jets :
They come over the finished surface. No concealed is needed for them and only outlet
points need to be left at the position.

2. Concealed body jets : They come with a concealed part which needs to be installed
while installing the divertor concealed thus before the surface is clad. The upper
cover is then put in the end when other uppers are installed.

Types of Showers :
A. Wall Mounted shower :

1. Basic over head showers : They are usally of 5” diameter and are mounted using
shower arms. They can be either plain flow or multi flow

2. Rain showers : These are mounted on walls using arms and are available in various
sizes ranging from 200mm to 400mm and shapes such as rectangle/ square /
round.
3. Cascade showers : These are wall mounted showers which can be either Concealed
or Exposed and give out Cascade flow of water.

4. Multi flow showers : These are wall mounted showers which can be a combination of
2 or more features such as Rain/Cascade, Rain/cascade/ spin, etc
B. Ceiling Mounted shower :

1. Over head Rain showers : These are mounted on ceiling using arms and are
available in various sizes ranging from 200mm to 400mm and shapes such as
rectangle/ square / round. They only have one FEATURE RAIN
2. Ceiling Inbuilt showers: These showers are inbuilt in the cileing with the help of their
fixing screws and do not make use of arms.
They vary from single flow rain to dual flow rain/ cascade, rain/ mist to multiple flow
such as rain/cascade/mist, rain/cascade/spin.
Their sizes can also go large such as 1000mm. Such sizes are not available in with arm
showers usually.
These shower can also come with inbuilt light : Chromo therapy. The price of same
goes exponentially high if using Europe made showers.

Rain + Cascade with LED Rain + Cascade + Spin with LED

The recommended height of ceiling mounted showers is between 8’ – 8’5”. When
installed at a height above that features like rain, mist, spin may become less
impactful due to the distance.

Cascade showers are specifically recommended by Bathline to be put on walls at 6’-7’

from Finished floor level than in ceilings at a height of 8’-9’. The sole reason
behind this is the property of water to come closer together and form a narrow
strip than a sheet of water. Thus when put on walls this distance becomes less and
sheet of water lands on us than strip of water.
Wet Area: Shower area : Types of Shower Controllers :
SHOWER MIXERS THERMOSTATS

Manual mixing of Hot and cold water by Thermostatic cartridge which monitors and
the user mixes water as per temperature set by user.
Incase of sudden drop of supply of cold / Incase of such situation, the cartridge will
hot the other water will continue to balance the other temperature water also thus
come in same amount thus leading to maintain the temperature of water.
sudden change in temperature.
No such safety feature is available in It has a safety silicon which inflates in case hot
Shower mixers water crosses the tolerable limit and blocks
water outlet thus saving the user from
scalding. Upon coming in contact with
tolerable the temperature, it goes back to old
position thus allowing flow of water
Volume control is possible in all cases as Volume control is NOT possible in all cases as
the same catridge controls temperature the same catridge DOES NOT controls
and water flow temperature and water flow
It is more economical than Thermostats It is expensive than Shower mixers
Shower mixers with concealed body : Shower mixers are used to manually
mix water and control outlet of water from a single source such as hand shower /
over head shower / etc. The same controller controls the water temperature and
flow. Can be used to control two functions in case of using button spout. It is
available in Ritmonio, Almar and Acquaviva with us.

Shower mixer with Auto diverter with Concealed body : In this case
along with manual water mixing, two functions can be controlled such as hand
shower and rain shower. In case the client uses button spout, three functions can
also be controlled. ONLY ONE FUNCTION WILL WORK AT A TIME. The auto diverter
makes use of water pressure to hold the diversion so its necessary to make sure
enough pressure for the same. It is available in Ritmonio, Almar and Acquaviva with
us.

Shower mixer with three way Knob diverter with concealed body :
In this case along with manual water mixing, three functions can be controlled such
as hand shower and rain shower. In case the client uses button spout, four functions
can all be controlled. ONLY ONE FUNCTION WILL WORK AT A TIME. Can also by used
as two way diverter in cases of clients needing a knob than a button system. It is
Available in Almar and Acquaviva with us.

Two / Three WAY Thermostats with Concealed body :
In this case along with inbuilt water mixing, two functions/ three functions can
be controlled. In case the client uses button spout, an additional feature
can be controlled thus making it being able to use a maximum of four
functions. ONLY ONE FUNCTION WILL WORK AT A TIME. It usually has two
knobs only, one for thermostatic cartridge which cannot control the volume
of water and one for opening and closing of outlets and thus THE VOLUME
OF WATER CANNOT BE CONTROLLED AND THUS IT WILL ALWAYS COME
OUT ON ITS MAXIMUM. Usually the concealed body for 2 way and three
way is the same.. It is available in Ritmonio, Almar and Acquaviva with us.

Bath Tubs :
Dictionary defines Bath tub as a a long plastic, metal,
or ceramic container that is filled with water so that you can sit or lie in it
to wash your whole body. But in the world of Bathrooms, Bathtub is a
piece of Art in one’s bathroom which is not only soothing to the eyes but
also a successful wellness product used to relieve one from stress.

Earlier times the bathtubs were made of raw materials like Ceramic / metal.
Whereas metal tubs still continue to be used in some places, the ceramic
tubs are largely replaced by Cast acrylic sheet tubs which give the same
shine as Ceramic and are lighter, cheaper, easy to move and maintain and
with better finishing.

Other material which may be used to make tubs are wood and Stone. But their
application is very limited.
Features that make a Simple tub into a Whirlpool:
1. Jacuzzi : Refers to the underwater jets at the longer sides of the tub. Depending
on size of the tub it may vary from 3 on each side to 4 on each side. A motor is
needed to operate the same.
2. Air Spa : Refers to underwater jets evenly distanced and distributed on the floor of
the tub. Depending on the size of tub it may vary from 18 to 36 outlets. A motor is
needed to operate the same.

Jacuzzi

Air Spa
3. Back jets : Refers to the underwater jets at one of the shorter sides of the
tub on the head size. 6 jets at angles to provide soothing relaxation are
put. Incase of double seater tub, another 6 are added.

4. Foot jets : Refers to the underwater jets at one of the shorter sides of the
tub on the Foot size. 4 jets at low level in a square shape arrangement are
placed to provide soothing relaxation to each foot. Incase of double seater
tub, another 4 are added.

5. LED Light : Also refered to as Chromotherapy, these undewater LED lights

are 4 color changing lights. The lights can be set to one color or at
changing settings as per mood.

6. On line heater : Online heater is fitted in the tubs to maintain a certain

temperature of hot water. IT DOES NOT HEAT COLD WATER.
Controls for Whirpool Functions :

1. Pneumatic control : As the name suggests, it works on Pneumatic

principles and only one function can be controlled using it. Incase of two
functions two of these shall come. This costs roughly 15k per piece thus
incase of two functions the client may use this in stead of electronic panel
which is about 42k. THIS CANNOT BE USED TO OPERATED LED FUNCTION
AND ONLINE HEATER.

2. Electronic Control Panel : It is a water proof electronic touch pad and a

single touch pad can be used to control all functions of the whirlpool.
Types of Tubs :

1. Inset Tubs :
a. Fitted in ledge made at site by client. The ledge can be clad with stone/ tile/ etc as
per client preference.
b. It is finished from the inside only and outer side in left unfinished.
c. The tub appears to be resting in the ledge cavity but has its own legs and cradle
thus is not dependent on the ledge to take the weight.

Bathtub legs

d. Different features of jaccuzzi can be added and nearly all options can have all the
features.
e. The cavity should ideally be 25mm smaller from all sides than of tub outer
size to give resting look. For instance for a 1800 by 900 mm tub the cavity
size will be 1750 by 850mm.
f. The drain and electric point( for even a single feature of whirlpool) are
left as per the technical. But it is essential to understand the all motors
are within the outer size of tub. Meaning if the tub size is 1800 by 900
mm, the motors will be accommodated within this size. This is possible
due to the slant of tub while going from top to bottom. See below
drawing

a. These are freestanding tubs which can be placed without a ledge which is
manufactured using inner and outer shell – 2 sheets.
b. It is finished from the both inside and outside.
c. The tub is finished with Acrylic sheet till end but there are legs in the same to
hold the weight.

d. All jaccuzi features can be added but depending on the model of tub. Thin
rim and classical tubs cannot have whirlpool systems as in Thin rim
enough space between the two shells to take space of jets and piping and
classical tubs are only made of inner shell so jets will get exposed. In thin
rim tubs, only air spa can be added at the bottom.

e. The drain and electric point( for even a single feature of whirlpool) are
left as per the technical. But it is essential to understand the all motors
are within the tub. They are usually place in the bottom in the gap
between the inner shell and leg bottom

3. Tubs With Panels :

Panels made of sheets acrylic sheets can be added along the long side of an inset tub (
incase there is a wall on three side) or on one long side and one short side of an
inset tub ( incase there is a wall only on two sides).
This is done to give the tub a look of free standing without spending that cost and also
to save space of a ledge in space constraint bathroom. Many times such
orientation is seen in bathrooms where the shower area is with the tub itself.

With Single long Panel With long Panel and short Panel
4. Overflow inset tubs and cascade flow inset tubs :

In over flow tubs the water comes till brim of the tub as the over flow waste in
standard tubs is not here. The water flows into the cavity outside and
then is recycled back into the main tub via whirlpool jets. The outside
cavity has the overflow waste to to avoid overflow of water into the
bathroom.
In Cascade tubs, the water from jets goes out of main inner shell and re enter
the tub using a two / one sided cascade flow to give a look of water fall

4. Walk in free standing tubs :

These are free standing tubs with Jacuzzi features and seats to sit. Unlike
standard tubs, they have door which gets water sealed and thus are used
for old age clients or clients suffering from arthritis for whom it is difficult
to climb in and out of tubs.
Bathtub Accessories :

Click clack and Waster over flow pipe. Connects the

Waster over flow near the top of the tub with the click
clack outlet at bottom to avoid over flow of water in
bathrooms. They are usally made of plastic and used in all
tubs. Its cost in included in Tub cost.

Metal Click clack and Waster over

flow. Connects the Waster over flow
near the top of the tub with the click
clack outlet at bottom to avoid over
flow of water in bathrooms. USED IN
CLASSICAL TUBS WHERE THE SAME IS
EXPOSED. THE METAL CAN BE
FINISHED IN SAME FINISH AS LEGS
Bathtub Accessories :
P TRAP connects the click clack to the drain in the floor and acts as water and odour
sealent. The length of the Plastic P ptrap can be stretched upto 2.5’ incase the floor drain
point is not exactly under the tub drain point. It is used in all tubs and gets hidden inside.

In free standing classical tubs, Metal P trap is used as it is visible in the same and can be
finished in same finish as legs.

Bathtub Fillers : Used to fill water in the tubs

1. Deck mounted Bathtub fillers :

They are usually used with inset tubs and may be used with standard ledge free
standing tubs ( cannot be used with thin ledge free standing). Incase using with
Whirlpool fitted tubs, first cross check if deck mounted filler can come or not as
the jacuzzi jets and its piping may take all space between the inner and outer side.
They can be four hole ( Spout, pull out hand shower, divertor, shower mixer) or five
hole (Spout, pull out hand shower, divertor. Hot inlet and cold inlet).

outlet to the bottle trap for controlling
drain of water from basin. They come
in push button options to stop and
allow flow of water. Available in
various finishes matching to the Tap or
may also come with ceramic cap to
give homogenous look as of basin.

Bottle Trap : The bottle trap is an essential

element of the basin's plumbing that keeps
the bathroom hygienic and odor-free.
When we use the basin, the used water
goes down the basin waste, into the
drainage pipe, and then into the sewer. It
also further prevents the entrance back of
Foul odour and harmful gases from sewer
into our bathroom by using double pipe
method
Basic Allied :

P trap : Solves the same purpose as

Bottle trap. Used when the Space
below basin is less or its is exposed
so to make it look less bulky.

Angle valves : These are valves used to

control the volume of water. In this case
usually two are put to control volume of
hot and cold water going to deck
mounted basin mixer.
Basic Allied :
WC Area :
Health Faucet : It is a jet spray used to clean oneself with water after bowel
movement. It is not in built in the WC and is separate. They can be made of
ABS ( eco and light) or Brass.
Types of Health faucet arrangement :
• Simple Health faucet with angle
valve to control volume from
one source of water(COLD ) only
and hook to hang.

1. Health faucet on a single 2 in 1

outlet and hook. The volume
control is on same piece.
Available in Almar.

2. In above two cases, the

temperature cannot be
controlled, thus this option is
with a single lever mixer with a
conceal which allows mixing of
water. Available in Acquaviva.
Basic Allied :
WC Area :
Two outlet Angle Valves : They are used usually in case of electronic WC as one
outlet is for the Health faucet and other connects to WC seat for its inbuilt jet.

Floor Drains :

For shower areas with Large size showers or Multiflow showers, Long grates of
length 600mm, 750mm, 900mm are used for Faster flow of water. On seeing
physical sample you shall notice the space in these long grating cavity which
can hold water till the drain takes it out. Their drain point may come in the
center or at side. Side holes are usually used in renovation of old bathrooms
when the drain is at side and cannot be shifted. Longer drains also make
making slop easier as water just needs to be slopped to one side and not one
corner.
