REPORT // JULY 2023

0 2 ABOUT THE PROGRAM

We, the students of a level society arrived at the
ISKCON premises and proceeded to the FFLN (Food for
Life Nepal) kitchen at around 9:45. At 10:00, there was
a briefing session regarding the kitchen procedures, the
program's schedule, and the equipment they will be
using. The students were divided into 5 groups, each
containing 5 students, totaling 25 students. We, then
helped staffs in shifting the meals to the allocated
vans.

We proceeded to the ISKCON Temple for darshan,

which is the act of seeing or paying respects to the
deities or sacred images in the temple. Following the
darshan, we moved towards the Prashadam Hall.

Prashadam refers to the sanctified food offered to

deities in a temple, and it is later distributed among
devotees as a blessing. We, too were provided with
fulfilling meals at the temple. At around 12:30, we
headed towards different schools (Panchakanya School
and Jay Bhadrakali School) to distribute the prasadam.
After the distribution of Prasadam, there was a lunch
break scheduled until 2:00 PM. We therefore, utilized
the free time to engage children in various activities
like singing and dancing. After that, there was a closing
ceremony where we gifted our thanks to all the
participating staffs for their precious time and returned
home with heavy hearts.

KEY OBSERVATIONS:

We found out that still many of the students in various schools are
deprived of nutritional food and it is getting harder to raise funds in
order to meet the growing population.

We also found out that ISKCON promotes bhakti-yoga, Krishna

Consciousness, through festivals, performing arts, yoga seminars,
public chanting, and the distribution of the society’s literatures.

The Zero Hunger Strategic Review (ZHSR), conducted in 2017-18,

found that Nepal still suffers from serious food insecurity and
malnutrition despite commendable progress on these fronts. It also
outlined a series of recommendations to address the problem.
