What is ADR?

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to a variety of processes that help parties resolve disputes without a trial.

Key Concepts

The ADR should be a component of the agreement signed by both parties.

If necessary, they must be performed during Control Procurement Management.

The preferred ADR is negotiation.

Different ADR methods can be found in different literature.

Project managers have the ultimate responsibility to manage the conflict.

Why Use ADR?

ADR increases court efficiency as it limits the judges required.

It is less costly as a trial is the most expensive stage of litigation.

It reduces the amount of risk for both parties because a trial may lead to unintended outcomes.

Judges are typically not experts in the field of construction.

ADR problems, documents, and parties involved are kept private.
