Some people believe that advertising encourages people to buy things they do

not need, while others believe that advertising provides important information
about products and services. Do the advantages of advertising outweigh the
disadvantages?

In our new era of technology, there are more ways to advertise products. We can access to
advertising easily on the internet, in the street, or wherever we go. It is a common belief that
advertising stimulates people to purchase useless products whereas some people think that
advertising just inform us about new things. In my point of view, I firmly believe that advertising
has more benefits than drawbacks.
On the negative side, I have some points. Firstly, there are more and more false advertising on
the internet. Because of the wide reach of the internet, we can see a lot of advertisements every
day and have no idea that is it real or not. Therefore, vast of products we buy can be poor quality.
Moreover, advertising can entice us to buy unuseful things so it is time and money consuming. It
takes us several hours to watch advertisements and spend a lot of money to buy something that
we do not need.
Despite some disadvantages, advertising has various advantages. To begin with, customers can
find out more information about the products they want without going to the store. Thanks for
advertising, we just need to go to the internet and search for the name of the products, there will
be a lot of advertisements for us to figure out. Moreover, with advertising, we can do some
comparison between some brands, since then, we can choose things that suitable for us. Besides,
advertising helps business enterprises to introduce their goods or services to everyone. It enables
companies to increase revenue as there are more people know and buy their goods.
To sum up, although advertising has some drawbacks, we cannot skip its benefits. Ultimately, I
feel that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. In my perspective, we have to select
advertisements carefully, and just purchase the things that we really need.
