INFORMATION 2023
7 - 16 JUNE 2023
OUR VISION
Building on our unique local heritage, we will provide a
world-class British education, inspiring all our students to
exceed expectations.
OUR VALUES
Empathy and Care | Respect and Inclusivity
Honesty and Integrity | Endeavour and Resilience
We are rapidly approaching the End of Year assessment period for our Year 7 students. This will be their
opportunity to demonstrate the progress they have made in all of their subjects during their first year of Key
Stage 3 study. Our aim is to give students in Year 7 the opportunity to sit summative assessments with the
focus being on building good revision habits in preparation for these.
I would ask that you please read through the information below on the structure of Year 7 exams, so you are
clear as to the arrangements for that period and the expectations.
The assessments serve a number of purposes which contribute to the on-going education of your child. They:
Year 7 students will sit all assessments in exam conditions in classrooms (separate arrangements will be made
for students with special exam considerations as appropriate) and will follow their normal timetabled lessons
when they are not sitting assessments..
Preparing for the exams
As you can see from above, at this stage of their academic journey, one of the most important aspects of the
End of Year assessment period is building good revision habits. Preparation is key to examination success, and
this booklet is designed to help students prepare. It contains information as to where students can find the
materials they need to prepare for each subject. This is the crucial training for our students - preparation for
this year’s assessments is important, but even more important is the building of a skillset that will grow across
their schooling and be most effective when it comes to the final high stakes external exams in the coming
years.
Students have had opportunities in MELs lessons to learn and practise key revision techniques. This year they
also used a series of 3 lessons to look at time management, prioritisation techniques and revision planning.
They discussed the importance of starting early, spacing their practice and creating targets that are
manageable so they can check off tasks as they go - this is key when it comes to wellbeing as it gives students
a sense of achievement.
For more information on exams anxiety or revision techniques please refer to the parent padlet under the
headings “Exams Anxiety”, “General Anxiety”, “Mindfulness” and “Reduce Exams anxiety through effective
revision”.
In this pack you will find the exam timetable and revision guidance for each subject.
