Poem exercise

 Think about the details about the writer, his previous work, the poem’s title, the artwork of the
collection it’s included in, etc. What are all of these making you expect about the poem we will
read? it made me feel curious about reading the poem and intrigued about its content, specially
after reading the poem title, it gives a sensation of a world-ending story as its intimidating, since
I didn’t know what saucers meant and I didn’t know what to expect since this author has some
variety of different story styles.
 As you read, write down words you don’t understand. Look up and write their definition and
translation. Then read it again.
Saucers- small, curved plate on which you stand a cup.
Engulfed- to surround and cover something or someone completely.
Muddled- in a state of bewildered or bewildering confusion or disorder.

 What did you think about the poem? Was it what you expected according to what was
discussed in class? It was interesting, specially since it was not what I expected after reading the
title and after reading the definition of the words I didn’t understand. It’s a text style I’m not
used to reading and it was fun to go over the text multiple times to fully understand what the
author wanted to express.
