Activities Introduction:
 Correction to previous class and activity
Presentation
 The class starts by asking learners what they know about polar bears,
e.g. Their color and where they live. Then give learners a few minutes
to discuss with each other anything else that they know about polar
bears.
 Students will scan for detail to answer questions and analyze the
extracted features.
 Learners should be able to predict that the extract will be in first-person
narratives as each chapter is told from a different character's point of
view.
 Following, students will draw a mind map using an extract to find
information to include in their mind maps.

Activities Introduction:
 Correction on previous class activity and homework.
 What is the meaning of The grass is always greener on the other side?
Presentation
 Playing an audio track about proverbs. Briefly explain what a proverb
is, using examples.
 The intention of the class is to discuss proverbs as a figurative method.
But beforehand a brief explanation will be given on what a figurative
speech means.
 To describe the concept several students will be asked to perform a
task, such as handling out books demonstrating that many hands make a
light work. Similarly, ask five or six learners to perform by one or two,
demonstrating that too many cooks spoil the broth.
 Learners get into the ground and discuss the proverbs, all of which are
quite easy to understand literally. Reminding learners to respect the
rules of group discussion – listening to each other, taking turns, and
respecting each other's point of view even if it differs from theirs.
Consolidation
 Class will come to an end as the discussion questions provided on the
learners book preceed.

Activities Introduction:
 Reviewing the previous class and getting oral corrections on the class
activity.
Presentation
 Students will give their point of view on what they think a main
character is, what is different about it than the other character? After so a
brief explanation will be given about what a main character is and how
the whole story revolves around the characters
 Each student will be given a chance to think and make a new main
character. Starting from his appearance, personality, and how they feel
about him/her.
 Following, students will go back to the poem of Piped Pieper and will
try to write the appearance of the protagonist and antagonist. After, they
will write the personality of the protagonist and antagonists as well as an
extract from the poem.

Consolidation
 In conclusion, students will write down a new character and will give it
any appearance and personality they want. After that, they will switch
papers and describe how they feel about it.

Activities Introduction:
 The class will start by defining what a blurb is.
‘A blurb is a short summary of a book that is written on the back
cover or inside the front of a cover of a book. It is meant to give
an idea of what the book is about and entice them to read.
Presentation
 Students will read the blurb in the book for a fiction book called
Leila’s Game.
 After reading the blurb, the class will discuss some questions to
understand what the blurb tells us.
What does Leila love? Why can't Leila play basketball? Who is
Miss Garacia? ….
 Following, discussion will be held on why they think about the
book blurbs. (The answer will vary) and focusing on how a book
blurb is written. Students will discuss their answers to the given
questions.
Consolidation
 In conclusion, each student will get a personal book and will read
the blurb and answer the same questions provided in the book to
research the book.
