IV. Course Description


A Theologico – Pastoral study of Mary in the Church which covers Mary in the Gospel, in Tradition (Dogma) and contemporary
theology (Vatican II, Marialis Cultus, Receptionist Mater; Marian Year Celebrations; etc.)
Special focus is given to the study of Mary in the Philippine context, with its various characteristics and dimensions: veneration of Mary
among Filipino Catholics; public and private revelations especially the reality of the so-called “apparitions and messages” (in the church and
as found in several indigenous cults or sects); authentic Marian Devotion; positive and deviational aspect in popular religiosity and
veneration of Mary vis – a – vis the ecumenical concerns.
