TEXT SPOKEN IN THE AUDIO FILE:
Regarding the video seen in class, I consider that the way we use our
language is a very interesting topic, because the frequency with which we use
words is always changing, and the additions to the vast vocabulary that we
already have are more and more common in a world where we now have the
possibility to express ourselves thanks to media such as the internet.
I was also intrigued by the fact that dictionaries, not even those who edit
them, are bearers of the absolute truth regarding the words that can be used
in the English language. These editors are also human and try to listen to
ordinary people to give the vocabulary a more comprehensive approach and
include constant updates.

WHY DO YOU THINK THE INTERNET HAS DETERIORATED THE ENGLISH

LANGUAGE?
I believe that the Internet is deteriorating English because, within it, the use
of shorter expressions, which pretend to have the same meaning as a whole
word or sentence, has become more and more common. An example of this
is the expression "4 eva", which is used instead of the word "forever".
The reason why I think this is a problem is because people can get so used to
this kind of informal language that they become unable to write a formal text
correctly. This problem directly affects young people, who normally deal with
their friends and acquaintances with this slang language, which has been
around for many generations, but has transcended thanks to the internet.
