Nowadays, many people always want to have a chance to study in a good

institution. It is thought that Summerhill School promotes self-directed learning

for students seeking an alternative education, founded by A.S. Neill in 1923A

complete agreement with the above viewpoint will be indicated in this essay

because this school lets students have complete freedom and democracy to

contribute ideas.

Firstly, Summerhill school brings much freedom for its students. To make it, the

students in this school have the right to join in classes anytime they like; they can

play music and go to the library during lesson time to enjoy and relax without

any worries. There is an argument that students have too much freedom, will not

study anything, and just keep playing; as a result, they cannot have enough

knowledge to learn further. There is no doubt it can be true, but giving students

freedom can help them improve their time management skills and self awareness
to take care of their own life in the future. Hence, Summerhill is a perfect

institution because students feel total freedom.

Secondly, This school allows students to have the right to contribute their ideas.

For instance, individuals are encouraged to seek assistance, voice complaints, or

vent during weekly meetings. However, there are some people who think that

heated debates may lead to hurtful remarks about others involved. Admittedly,

this can be true; however, letting them have democracy to contribute their ideas

can improve their critical thinking. Indeed, Summerhill fosters individual values

and teaches students about the impact of their actions.

In summary, Summerhill School offers numerous benefits for students. These

include the freedom to choose their favorite subjects and participate in a

democratic community. It is an excellent school for students in any country who

seek mental and physical development without being limited by formal school

rules.
