● The Medical Ultrasound (1956)


Created by Dr. Ian Donald in 1956
and him being the first to apply The
Ultrasound into Medical Practices,
OB/GYN Field of Medicine. With his
partner Tom Brown, the engineer for
this invention they developed the
first Prototype System for
Ultrasound. After the creation of the
Medical Ultrasound, Its is not long
when the invention go through a
series of changes in which turned
into the not-so rare ultrasound today. It helped in Decision Making since the woman
can choose if she wants to keep the baby or not, it also gave answers if the baby is
even alive in the mommy’s tummy.

Dr. Ian Donald


(1910-1987)
- Graduated in University of Cape Town, Major
in Arts and Music on 1930.
- in 1930, Donald entered St. Thomas’s Hospital
Medical School in London.
- Later in 1952, Donald resigned from St.
Thomas’s to take up a readership position at the
Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- In late 1956, Donald became acquainted with
Thomas Brown, a twenty-three-year-old engineer at
Kelvin and Hughes Ltd. in Glasgow, Scotland. Where
they designed and created the First Medical Ultrasound Prototype.

● Tanks (1915)

In 1914, Colonel Ernest Swinton and


William Hankey had an Idea in which an
amored vehicle with belt like tracks that
easily breaks through an enemy’s line of
defense is something to be avocated
into, Thus the Little Willie was born.
With an image like a water tank making
the word “Tank” a military word for this
invention. Little Willie soared through
the battlefields and made it’s name
knowned at the start of Battle of the Somme. Tanks rapidly became an important military
weapon. During World War II, they played a prominent role across numerous battlefields
making it a crucial asset in winning wars.

COL. Ernest Swinston


(1868-1951)
- Ernest Swinton was born in Bangalore, India
in 1868.
- Swinton's proposal that the British Army
should build what he called a tank were rejected by
General Sir John French and his scientific advisers.
- After the First World War Swinton became
Professor of Military History at Oxford University
(1925-39).
- He also wrote a book, Eyewitness (1932)
about his experiences in the war.
