CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background to the implementation of fieldwork practices

In every vocational high school, of course, there will always be a Field
Work Practice (PKL) program to hone and implement the abilities of
their students. At SMK Negeri 1 Manggis itself, every year it always
carries out Field Work Practices (PKL) for class XI students.
Field Work Practice (PKL) is carried out to train and provide insight to
students in the relevant Industrial World related to their respective
expertise competencies. PKL also aims to provide knowledge in the
world of work so that in the future students can compete in an
increasingly tight industrial world like today, to prepare students to
have technical abilities with broad insight and flexibility in the era of
technological and scientific advances
Field Work Practice Activities (PKL) also have a role in long-term
development in Indonesia in order to create quality, skilled,
independent, creative, innovative and private spirited human resources
(HR), which makes it necessary to hold education and application of
education and industrial knowledge through the Field Work Practice
(PKL) program. With the Field Work Practice (PKL) carried out for
class XI students, it is hoped that students will gain deeper experience
in their respective majors, and become a skilled workforce in the
industrial era in the future, and be able to carry out duties and
obligations in their fields, especially in the field of computer network
engineering.
So that with the Field Work Practice (PKL) method, students are
required to carry it out for a period of 6 months.
With that short period of time, I carried out Field Work Practice (PKL)
to seek experience at Telkom by relying on the knowledge and abilities
that I had obtained at the previous level.
The background of Field Work Practice (PKL) conducted at Telkom
aims to combine the theory that has been learned in the study program
with practical experience in the telecommunications industry
environment. This PKL is carried out as part of a curriculum that aims
to prepare students to face the challenges of the world of work. During
my PKL at Telkom, I was involved in the network and infrastructure
division, which is very relevant to my study focus in communication
technology. Through this experience, I hope to hone practical skills,
expand my knowledge of modern telecommunications technologies,
and gain insight into business operations in the industry.
