With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcome:

- Reflect on the nature of linguistics and language by answering questions


through understanding specific information.

The activity consists of:

Step 1:

- Watch the video [Big Think]. (2012, October 6). Steven Pinker: Linguistics as a
Window to Understanding the Brain [Video File].
You should activate Subtitles/closed captions to make it easier for you to take
notes.

Step 2:

- According to the video of step 1, answer the following questions in the forum:
o What is language?
o What concept is developed with the famous Noam Chomsky phrase
“Colorless green ideas sleep furiously”? Give 1 example.
o What is the basic explanation for the fact that a person speaks a foreign
language with a specific accent?

Step 3:

- Create three (3) original questions based on the video of step 1 and answer
them. Be sure to share them in the forum for your e-mates to read.

- Go to the Learning Environment, under this activity guide and evaluation
