Networking can be a bit nerve-racking at first, especially if you don’t know how to start. If you’re new to networking
or feeling intimidated by the topic in general, here are some tips.
Continue reading to discover what networking is, why it’s so important, and how you can make the most of online
networking by writing compelling LinkedIn invitations.
Professional networking typically takes place in informal settings – a networking event, parties, or even casual daily
interactions between colleagues within the workplace and externally. Networking can also be done formally when
you connect with certain individuals through email, LinkedIn, or other business affairs.
You might be wondering, “What sets networking apart from casual socialization?” The answer to this depends on
your intention. When you participate in professional networking, you are looking to gain something, whether it be a
tip on how to be a more productive employee or landing that big promotion.
The possibilities for networking are endless, that’s why it’s crucial to set your intentions of what type of career
support you are hoping to gain from networking before you begin so that you can make the most of it.
Networking is an essential part of finding a dream job or securing a new role within most companies. By meeting
and talking with people in your field, you can learn the ropes and build relationships that can lead to career
opportunities. Exchanging information with professional contacts can strengthen your connections, help you build
social confidence, and expand your list of referrals.
There is a lot of evidence that suggests networking and building relationships can be very effective ways to find a
new job. It’s no secret that a huge portion of job seekers land their new positions through professional connections
and referrals. If you are socializing and building connections with the right people, they may feel compelled to even
hand deliver your resume to their hiring manager, which will make you stand out among other applicants.
LinkedIn is still by far the best professional networking site on the Internet. It is the right place where you can meet
with industry experts, business partners, and other interesting people. It is also a great place where students can
start a discussion with start conversations with CEOs of international companies.
In order for your LinkedIn invitation to be accepted, you need to make sure that the content of your invitation is
compelling enough so the recipients will click on the accept button.
