REFLECTION 2
Through lesson 2 in Writing 3, I have got more knowledge about how to do research.
In terms of finding a topic, I have known that there are a variety of sources for us to
choose one. We can watch news, read journals, ect to catch up with the hot problems
emerging everyday. Then, we can find a topic that we are interested in. Choosing a
favorite topic is very important because if we do research about what we do not like,
we will feel bored easier and want to give up soon. Moreover, the topic should not be
too specific or too general. Second, what I have got more is that research consists of:
introduction (current issues, things that we will do or which direction we want your
research to follow..), literature review (concept and theory used in our writing),
methodology/ method, findings or results and discussion, conclusion and
recommendations. Each of these items are important so we should put all of them in
our research. Finally, research process includes 7 steps:
1. Define research problem
2. Review concepts and theories
3. Formulate hypothesis: do survey => test
4. Design research (including sample design): find questionnaires available =>
edit, design, ways to collect samples
5. Collect data: system, convenience, snowball sampling
6. Analyze data: mean/average/percentage
7. Interpret and report
