How to use web browser translation functions

NHK WORLD-JAPAN provides a wide variety of video on-demand content in

English, with more than 2,000 programs ranging from dramas, travelogues, news
and current affairs and human documentaries. Many of these programs are available
with closed captioning and transcripts which can be translated into multiple
languages through the translation function feature in web browsers.

*Web browser translation is not provided by NHK and may contain inaccuracies. This
feature is not available on the NHK WORLD-JAPAN app and may not be available in
some environments.

How to use Google Chrome’s translation function (PC)

1. Open Google Chrome and access the video content you would like to watch
on the NHK WORLD-JAPAN website.

Hover the cursor over the subtitles icon on the bottom right corner of the
video player and select “English.” (This feature is not available if doesn’t
appear.)
2. Click on the translation function icon on the right side of the address bar
and click on “Choose another language” to select your preferred language
from the dropdown menu.

3. The English subtitles and other text on the page have been translated to the
language you selected.
How to use Microsoft Edge’s translation function (PC)

1. Open Microsoft Edge and access the video content you want to watch on the
NHK WORLD-JAPAN website.

Hover the cursor over the subtitles icon on the bottom right corner of the
video player and select “English.” (This feature is not available if doesn’t
appear.)

2. Right-click on the page and select “Translate to English.”

3. Click on the translation function icon on the address bar and select your
preferred language from the dropdown menu.

4. The English subtitles and other text on the page have been translated to the
language you selected.
 How to use Google Chrome’s translation function (Android)
