1. SCOPE
The Purpose of this method statement is to describe the methodology for installation &
Testing of Access control system.
To ensure that all the concerned persons are familiarized with the sequence of activities,
utilizations of resources, documents & drawings involved, maintaining & recording
documents, data to meet the project specification and contractual obligations.
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this method statement is to define stepwise procedure for installation &
Testing of ACS system in conjunction with the applicable project specifications, approved
shop drawings, applicable manufacturer’s recommendations, standard construction
practices and relevant approved material submittal.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1 Project Manager – Overall responsibility of the Project execution, quality and safety. Identify
and organize the resources required to carry out the work in accordance with approved
construction program and specifications.
5.2 Project Engineer – Responsible for the drawings and submissions approvals and allocation
of resources to execute the work at site for the site engineer. He should make sure the quality
of materials conforms to the required standards and meets consultant requirements. He
should clear all the technical queries and problems at site rising by site engineer coordinating

with main contractor. Establish and implement proper productivity monitoring system to ensure
savings on labor cost and on time completion of project. Project Engineer will report to the
Project Manager.
5.3 Site Engineer - Responsible for the day-to-day job execution on site and allocation of
resources to work areas on site. Site Engineer will report to Project Engineer. Ensure that work
executed in accordance with approved specifications, agreed procedures and method
statement. Monitoring of all subcontractor’s work closely to ensure the quality and completion
on time. Initiate inspections for installations in coordination with QA/QC Engineer. He should
ensure and will have overall responsibility for Quality, Health and Safety at site.
5.4 Supervisor / Foreman – Responsible for the day to day job on site which includes
supervising skilled / semiskilled operatives, or any other staff assigned to do this work. He will
be responsible for safety of their operatives and quality of works.
5.5 QA/QC Engineer – Overseeing all the quality requirements and quality control measures for
the project in coordination with Project Manager /PE/ Site Engineer.
5.6 HSE Officer – Will be responsible for health and safety aspects on site as per Main
Contractor’s and Local Safety Regulations.

7.1 GENERAL
7.1.1 This method statement shall be read in conjunction with the documents listed above in
Section 4, where applicable.
7.1.2 On receipt of the material at site, PACC / Project Engineer & QAQC Engineer shall inspect
the material in accordance with Approved Material Submission, specification and Delivery
Note and recorded in the MIR form and offered for consultant approval as required.
7.1.3 Any non-conforming materials must be labelled by storekeeper and returned to quarantine
area in accordance with procedure.
7.1.4 Once completing the material inspection with consultant, materials shall be stored
accordingly for easy retrieval.
7.1.5 Manufacturer’s instructions for storage shall be followed as applicable.
7.1.6 Materials shall be protected from dust & debris and properly stored & covered.
7.2 PRE-INSTALLATION CHECK
7.2.1 The materials received at site shall be verified as per the approved Material Submittal,
inspected, and stored in the designated area.
7.2.2 Ensure the approved drawings / Co-ordination drawings / documents are available at site.
7.2.3 Ensure that all the materials are inspected upon the delivery to the site by project
engineer / Quality engineer.
7.2.4 Check whether the area is clear / civil clearance available for installation.
7.2.5 Ensure the proper handling equipment / Tools are available at site to proceed for
installation.
7.2.6 Checks the PPE, accessibility to the site or extra safety required and inform the safety in
charge for further procedures.

7.2.7 The QA/QC inspector will make prior inspection to ensure the compliance of the work as
per the project requirements.

There are some circumstances where overhead cabling is required. The following
guidelines must follow when you install an overhead cabling:
- Cables are to follow contours
- Cables should not run closer than 10.5cm to any fixing points such as the corner of a
ceiling to a wall.
- Cables are to be sited away from door frame uprights
- All wiring should travel in straight lines
- Never run cables diagonally across walls
- Apply containments to cable of they are likely to suffer damage.
- Do not use jacketless cables.
- Do not pass cables close to steam or hot water pipes
- Data and communication/signalling cables should be kept isolated from mains cabling and
heavy current apparatus and wiring and only cross it at right angles
- All the cable termination end should be with using ferrules/legs (direct cable
twisting is not allowed)
- Prepare all the materials, equipment and tools that will be essential during execution.
- Drawings for installation shall be approved and shall be coordinate with other services.
- Room clearance and proper access shall be provided as per approved program.
- Prior to installation the area where the ACS is to be installed shall be inspected to ensure
architectural works and finishing are complete and area is free from dust.
- Site Engineer/Supervisor to ensure that he has acquired all the approved shop/schematic
drawings prior installation.

• Exact location of the card reader shall be as per approved Access Control System
Device Layout plan.
• Installation height for the card reader on the wall should be as per approved installation
detail drawing
• Remove mounting plate from the Card reader and fix into concealed back box using
screw proper hardware.
• Pull out the field wiring from back box through card reader mounting plate hole
• For termination, stripe the cable with wire stripper then twist the cable and screw it into
the card reader terminal strip as per typical wiring detail diagram.
• Push back all the excess cables into the concealed back box and fix the card reader in
the mounting plate.
• The Request to Exit Button (REX) shall be installed on the secure side of the door.
• The Final location of the RTE shall be as per the approved Access control system
layout drawing.
• The Final mounting height of the REX should be as per approved installation detail
drawing.
• Pull-out the cable from the 3X3 back box installed embedded on the wall. Terminate
the appropriate cable on the REX and mount the each on the 3X3 backbox.
• Ensure that all nuts, bolts and fixings are secure.
• All the labelling of devices and cables shall be in accordance with the approved Access
control layout drawing.

• Inspect the frame header to determine if mounting accessories are required.
• Fold template as indicated on dotted line. For single doors locate template against the
door and header on the lock jamb side of the frame.
• Mark and drill holes as indicated by the template.
• Mount armature to door.
• Install mounting plate to header with the interlock detail away from the door side of the
stop. Loosely fasten screws through adjustment slot as shown. Assure that the
mounting plate and armature line up properly, then tighten down all mounting screws.
• Holding the magnet housing at each end, engage the entire length of the interlock
detail, by pushing towards the door. Tap with a soft hammer to ensure proper
alignment and engagement.

Make sure that the installation place (Foundation) can endure at least 4 times of
the total weight of the corner/pole mount adaptor, wall mount adaptor, hanging
mount adaptor, and camera.
Mount the junction box onto the pole mount bracket and tightly fasten the
screws.
Feed the camera cables through the upper plate of the junction box. Then
attach the camera to the upper plate with the screw the supplied screws.
Use the provided bolts, spring washers and plain washers to mount the wall
mount adaptor onto the product.
Check camera view with a CCTV tester to adjust the lens in a desired direction
as per ADMCC requirements.
