The Circulation of Blood!

The heart, though simple in its form and
function, has an incredible job to perform. The heart
is a strong muscle that pumps blood to all parts of the
body. It is located in the center of the chest, behind
the sternum, or breastbone, and is shaped like a pear.
In an average healthy adult, it is about the size of a
large clenched fist. The heart beats approximately 60
to 100 times a minute, or about 100,000 times each
day. Its function is to pump blood to all parts of the
body through blood vessels called veins and arteries.
The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all body
cells and carries waste products like carbon dioxide
away from the cells to be removed from the body.
The circulatory system is comprised of many parts
that all work together to ensure that blood flows
through the heart and the entire human body in several steps.

In order for the body to survive, it requires oxygen and nutrients and a
means of removing waste products from the cells. The circulatory system
provides the means of delivering oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to each cell. It
is also responsible for transporting waste products to be removed from the
body. The heart is the main pump and the engine of the circulatory system. The
system includes the heart, the lungs, the arteries and arterioles, the capillaries,
and the veins and venules.

On the right side of the heart, the right atrium receives oxygen-depleted
blood through the veins of the body. It then flows to the right ventricle where it
is pumped through the pulmonary arteries to the lungs. The blood vessels in the
lungs, the arterioles, gradually become smaller, ending in the capillaries, which
are not much larger than the blood cells that they carry. These capillaries have
very thin walls through which the blood cells exchange the waste product
carbon dioxide for fresh oxygen. In the lungs, carbon dioxide is removed from
the blood, and fresh oxygen is added to the blood with each breath. The
oxygen-rich blood then travels from the lungs, through increasingly larger
vessels, which are venules and veins, to the left atrium of the heart. Following
this, it flows into the left ventricle, which is the strongest part of the heart
muscle. The left ventricle then pumps the blood into the aorta.

The contraction of the left ventricle is so powerful that the blood travels
through all the arteries in the body to every cell. The arteries, which supply
blood to all parts of the body, branch off the aorta. The blood circulates through
the body via the arteries to smaller vessels called arterioles and then to
capillaries, which deliver oxygen to the tissues in the body and allow the
exchange of nutrients and waste products in every cell of the body. The
deoxygenated blood enters slightly larger vessels called venules and then to

larger vessels called veins, which carry it back through the body. On the way
back, many of the waste products picked up are filtered out by the kidneys and
the liver. The blood eventually reaches the right side of the heart to begin its
circuit through the body once again.
In conclusion, the circulatory system is the most important system in
humans. It is responsible for pumping blood throughout the entire human body.
The main component of the circulatory system is the heart. With all the parts
working together, following a particular process, blood moves through the
heart and the entire human body.
