The idea pitch that was selected for the peer-critique from unit 8 is from Natasha Perkins-

“Health and Convenient Snacks for Toddlers”. Natasha’s business idea for creating a company

that would provide healthy and nutritious snacks for toddlers is one that would serve a niche

market. As parents who have to manage many different responsibilities and are required to

multitask this would be a great product. Her business pitch was well organized and presented

language that was easy to understand and got the reader interested. The suggestion I would like

to offer is that if she shared a possible business name it would have come off stronger when

referring to the idea. Selecting a good name, which would reflect the product that Natasha is

offering.

The strengths are that the target market addresses parents I would have liked her to

narrow the demographics a little more instead of encompassing all “parents”. Demographic

information divides a market into smaller groups comprised of age, geography, marital status,

income, education, and employment (Mialki, 2022). It would narrow the demographics even

geographically when starting out. It would also allow for a narrow focus when doing research.

For example, family revenue segmentation for nutritious snacks would be targeted based on

income. An individual or a family’s income would control their ability to purchase different

products . A person who can barely afford to provide food and shelter for his/her family would

not be consider purchasing snacks from a specialty business but most likely purchase off the

shelves of the grocery store.

Another strength was the argument presented for the viability. The costing was presented

for the startup, pricing of the average snack and the breakeven for yields. While the financial

details are always estimated because there is no historical data to base it upon, Natasha discussed

it to the best of her ability. It shows her confidence in her product offering. I would have liked to
understand where the initial financing would be coming from to start the business venture. Is it

personal funds or would she look at getting a loan?

Growth potential was presented well. While there is mention of leveraging social media

and online influencers I would have liked a little bit more details on the marketing strategy.

Price is mentioned and how the business addresses the product is differentiated from the major

brand competitors. As a small business owner Natasha would have to look at working with a

fraction of the marketing budgets of the big food brands (ASBFEO. n.d.). She can stand out by

marketing her products so that understand there are healthier, locally owned, and socially

responsible options available. She can promote it as standing by the value of what she offers and

continue to grow it into a thriving business.
