CHARACTERISTICS

 The events are described/presented in a chronological order


 There are transition words to describe what happened and when
 Varying sentence structure are used to engage the reader
 These essays tell stories
 The word choices are informative or descriptive
 The text relies on descriptive adjectives and words that create clear visualizations
 Past tense simple, past perfect and past continuous are used; past continuous to set the scene,
past simple to describe the main events of the story and past perfect to give the background of
the story; present and past participles can also be used;
 Sequence: background – events – result
 They are written in the first or third person
