Before Going to Site

Before going to site, ensure the following:

— Site access permission has been received.

2 237/1531-LZA 701 6001/1 Uen S | 2022-07-04

Install AIR 6419

— Following documents are read and understood:

• Personal Health and Safety Information

• System Safety Information

• Transportation and Storage

— All required tools are available.

The tools listed in this document are only examples. Tools in different areas
and regions can look different than those listed here.

Depending on the installation and environment, different tools are required.

It is important to do the following:

• Use tethered tools when working at heights.

Before Starting Installation

Before starting the installation, ensure the following:

— The site is prepared according to the customer site documentation.

— Ordered hardware is available.

— After unpacking, the AIR must be powered up within 48 hours, if high

humidity or cold temperatures apply. Ensure that the AIR is not left in an
outdoor environment for more than one week before taking it into service.

— The power supply (–48 V DC) for the AIR is installed and tested at the site.

— Site grounding is installed and tested.

Do!
Products not connected to ground risk damage from overvoltage or overcurrent.
Always ground products according to instructions.

— The following equipment must be installed and tested:

• A main switch

• A circuit breaker or an external fuse

1.1 Safety and Operation Requirements

Precautions from an environmental and mechanical perspective for a safe
and approved installation of the product are described.

Adhere to the following for safety and operation reasons: The mechanical design
of the AIR is based on environmental conditions that are equal to or exceeding
class 4.1 as specified in EN 300 019-1-4 and GR-3178-CORE and thereby
respects the static mechanical load imposed on an AIR by wind at maximum
velocity. Wind loads in this document are calculated with reference to wind
pressure. For more accurate results, the specific terrain information for relevant
sites and geographical area where the AIR will be installed must be carefully
analyzed, considered, and calculated according to EN 1991-1-4.

Pole clamps, brackets, mounting accessories and other installation material or

equipment specified by Ericsson in the AIR product information documentation
must be used and Ericsson installation instructions be complied with. In addition,
it must be observed that specific environmental conditions that the AIR becomes
exposed to, such as icing, heat, dust, dynamic stress (for example, strain caused
by oscillating support structures) or other environmental conditions that exceed
or otherwise deviate from the Antenna Integrated Radio Unit Description, can
result in the breakage of an AIR or its mounting accessories and even cause the
AIR to fall to the ground.

These facts, information, and circumstances must be considered and properly

taken into account during the site planning process and adhered to for
installation and operation of the AIR. Ericsson expressly disclaims any
responsibility or liability arising out of failures in this regard.

Unpack and Check Materials

2 Unpack and Check Materials

Environmental considerations, steps for inspection and unpacking,

information about the warranty seal and safe handling of the unit are
provided.

Required Tools and Equipment

Tool Product Name

Side cutters

Knife

Prerequisites

— The packed radio must be kept in weather-protected environment. The radio,

once unpacked, must be installed according to the instructions, even if it is
not powered up immediately.

— The radio must be powered up within 48 hours in outdoor environment.

Steps

1. Examine the box and packing

material for damage. If there are
holes in the box, immediately file a
complaint with the transport
company. Take a photo of the
damages to facilitate the claims
process.
Note:
Unpack the unit only at the site,

2.1 Handle AIR Unit

Information about warranty seal, lifting heavy equipment, and handling the
AIR unit to avoid damage.

— The product is equipped with a warranty seal sticker.

Note: Seals that have been implemented by Ericsson must not be broken
or removed, as it otherwise voids warranty.

— The AIR has a plastic front. Be careful when handling it.

4.4 Assemble DC Power Connector to Shielded Cable

Before assembling the DC power connector, the cable must be stripped
according to specification and the shield must be connected correctly.

Stop!
Improper installation or modification of AC or DC powered equipment can seriously
damage the equipment. Only a qualified and authorized electrician is permitted to install
or modify electrical installations.

Required Tools and Equipment

See required tools in the assembly instruction delivered with the DC power
connector.

Prerequisites

Warning!
When working at height, there is a risk of falling objects. Falling objects can cause serious
injury or even be fatal. Always wear a helmet and avoid standing in an area where
objects can fall.

Note: Ensure that bolts and nuts are lubricated.

Do not use lubricants containing graphite since they cause corrosion and
can damage cable insulation.

— Be careful not to damage the unit against the pole, mast, or wall. Always
secure the unit properly.

— When hoisting, make sure to comply with local requirements and regulations
regarding hoisting equipment.

Steps

1. Attach a lifting device onto the top

of the pole or wall where the AIR
is to be attached.

Power Up AIR

7 Power Up AIR

After the installation has been verified, the unit can be powered up and the
optical indicators will show the status of the unit.

Prerequisites
The AIR must be powered up within 48 hours after installation even if the AIR is
not taken into service. The reason is to protect the internal units from local
climate conditions.

Do!
Products not connected to ground risk damage from overvoltage or overcurrent. Always
ground products according to instructions.

Caution!
Do not stand or work in front of an operational antenna, unless it has been verified or
documented that RF exposure levels are within specified safety limits.

Caution!
Excessive RF exposure can result in potentially adverse health effects. If it is suspected
that RF exposure limits may be exceeded, ensure that transmitting antennas are
switched off, or reduce output power whilst working with or near antennas.

For more information about RF EMF exposure, see Antenna Integrated Radio
Unit Description and Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Fields.

AIR.

Note: It can take up to 10 minutes or more before the AIR is in operation.

After This Task

Check the status of the optical indicators, see Table 4.

For detailed information about optical indicators, see Antenna Integrated Radio
Unit Description and Indicators, Buttons, and Switches.

Note: After the radio power is switched on, it takes 20 to 30 seconds before the
slow flashing (0.5 Hz) starts. The operational indicator only flashes once
during this period.

The sliding cover can be closed to hide the optical indicators. Depending
on the work order, leave the sliding cover open or closed.

After the power-up, it is recommended to run the installation self-check,

as described in Perform Basic Stand-alone Radio Installation Check.
This feature helps to identify potential connection faults or hardware
faults of the AIR.
