Defined as anything
below a 7 degree slope
Common CAD Mistakes
A lot of the times the CAD designer will use the tilt of the module or panel as the roof tilt.

It’s our job to identify and clarify this with the customer.
How to know if it’s a flat roof?
● CAD calls out flat roof
● You see any of the following as roofing material
○ Rolled Roofing Panels are not parallel to the
○ Rolled Composition roof surface
○ Membrane Roofing
○ Tar & Gravel Roofing
● You see a tilt leg (but be careful as this may also be a reverse tilt system)

● Slope is below 7 degrees


● The site survey photos and/or drawings show a flat roof

Parapet (a wall extending past the roof surface)


What to do if there is a discrepancy?
Contact the client for confirmation and/or clarification
