MASTER OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Program Overview
This program provides a review of the US criminal
justice, public safety management and administration
system. Students develop a thorough understanding of
public safety agencies and their functions, and learn
area theory, as well as practice. The program analyzes
the multifaceted problems that confront public safety
officers and administrators and the implications that
their decisions may have on the public. The program
uses a case study approach to evaluate strategies for
solving complex issues within the criminal justice
system.

Graduates of this program qualify for mid-level


management positions in Criminal Justice, Government
and Public Safety Management and Administration.

Program Learning
Outcomes
Upon successful program completion graduates will be
able to:

Develop a thorough understanding of criminal justice


theories and their implications for public policy and
practice.
Demonstrate proficiency in research design and
quantitative and qualitative analysis related to
evaluation of criminal justice practices and policies.
Demonstrate ability to evaluate and resolve ethical
issues in criminal justice practice, policy, and
research.
Demonstrate an understanding of leadership theories
and skills as they pertain to managing and leading
organizations.
Demonstrate ability to synthesize, evaluate, and
communicate effectively using scholarly sources of
information.

What You Can Expect


Hands-on learning, a close-knit campus community,
and a caring faculty. UAV has designed classes where
a maximum class size is 20 students, giving
you individual learning.
