Switches and sockets

General Objective:

Students are able to understand the use of specific switches and sockets for specific purposes in
buildings which are available in the market.

Specific objectives:

Students will be able to understand different types of switches and sockets used in building for different
purposes.

Students will be able to understand the specification, working, arrangement in circuit of switches and
sockets.

Methodology

Lecture method with the help of presentation and catalogues

Teaching aids and materials:

Black / white board, pen, paper, projector, catalogues etc.

Previous knowledge:

To know the previous knowledge of students by asking some basic questions regarding wires,

for ex:

 What are the basic elements of the circuit


 Why we use switches and sockets in the circuit

Introduction:

Discussing the answers given by the students and explaining the correct answer .

Giving examples of from their day to day life.

Introduction to power plug and sockets.

Arrangement of plug and sockets in the circuit

Safety measures taken for using plug and sockets in the circuit.

Assignment:

To identify the different equipment are being used in the house and which and type of switches and sockets will
be appropriates for them.
