NEW YEAR´S TRADITIONS

THAT WE HAVE IN MY
HOUSE

January 1, the first day of the year, is a holiday in Colombia and in many
parts of the world to celebrate the beginning of a new year, where people
deposit their faith, their goals, their desires, their plans, among many
other things. For these reasons it is believed in certain rituals that serve
to bring home everything that is longed for.
LIKE:

OUTFIT
Generally, new clothes of
specific colors are usually
used, such as: red, yellow
and green to represent or
attract love, money and
health in the coming year.

FOOD
In my house we usually
eat suckling pig, turkey
or tamale at night. And
for dessert we eat natilla
with blackberry sweet.

GO OUT WITH THE

SUITCASES TO THE
STREET
It is customary to go for a walk
at night on the street, since it is
believed that in this way more
vacations and outings to explore
the world are attracted.

12 GRAPES
It consists of eating one for
each stroke of midnight. It is
said that it attracts good
luck and prosperity, which
is why you have to make a
wish.

FAMILY HUGS
One of the best ways to start the
A new year means being
surrounded by our loved ones, so
hugs cannot be missing from our
family to wish us a happy new
year and welcome this new stage
in the best possible way.
DRINK CHAMPAGNE
It is toasted with
champagne as a symbol
of positive things and
even some relatives
bathe in it.

GET UNDER THE TABLE

If you want to find a
boyfriend or girlfriend, this
ritual is perfect. Just as the
12 bells start to ring you
have to duck under the
table.

BURN THE NEGATIVE

In general, our whole
family has the tradition of
writing a list of everything
bad that happened to us
during the year and
burning it when it is 00:00.

ACTIVITIES
In my family, we usually
buy fireworks, play board
games and dance to
Christmas music.

PURPOSE LIST
To start the new year in the
best possible way, we write
down on a piece of paper
everything we want to
attract for the New Year
and reserve it in one place.
