 What is Chinese New Year?
● Also known as Lunar New
Year or Spring Festival
because countries such as
North and South Korea, and
Vietnam celebrate it as well!

It marks the beginning of

 Chinese New Year is BIG!

● The most celebrated festival in the Chinese culture

● The celebrations lasts for 15 days

A time for everyone

to come back home
and eat dinner on

 Zodiac Signs
● The Chinese zodiac is a cycle of
12 animals (each animal
represents one year)
● The year in which you were
born determines your zodiac

恭喜發財 “gōng xǐ fā cái” - may you have a blessing during Chinese New
prosperous new year
Year is called 拜年 (bài nián) -
身體健康 “shēntǐ jiànkāng” - good health this literally translates to pay a
出入平安 “chū rù píng ān” - peace visit for the New Years
wherever you go
● These greetings are said to
your elders - in return you get
red envelopes!
