Former NIS Interact Club President, a Youth Leadership Excellence

Awardee of Numancia Integrated School.

Despite having books, pens, and papers on both hands and being an
Interact Club President at the same time, (soon to be a Rotaractor), Itr.
Kimberly Legaspi managed to be one of the recipients of the Youth
Leadership Excellence Award (YLEA) by JCI Aklan Kalantiao. For Itr. Kim,
(as they used to call her) receiving an award from YLEA or any recognition
for youth leadership is an honor and a big privilege experience. According
to her, it acknowledges the hard work, dedication, and positive impact that
young leaders make in their communities or fields of interest.

"It feels surreal. Youth leaders are often inspired by their passion for
creating positive change, helping others, and making a difference in
society. Being motivated by the challenges around me and a desire to be
part of the solution." Her exact words after receiving the award.

Just like everyone else, Itr. Kim also encountered various obstacles, such
as limited resources, resistance to change, or personal doubts. She said
that overcoming these challenges involves perseverance, adaptability, and
staying focused on the goals. Seeking guidance from experienced mentors
and collaborating with like-minded individuals can also be valuable.

We cannot forget the fact that Itr. Kim also ranks as one of the best
students in her class despite of being the Interact Club President of
Numancia Integrated School. According to her, balancing academics and
leadership responsibilities can be challenging especially now that she is
entering college. Time management, setting priorities, and seeking support
from mentors or peers are the best strategies to manage both successfully.

To the future youth leaders, this is a message from Itr. Kim. "To the
upcoming generation of youth leaders, I would say: Be bold, authentic, and
compassionate in your leadership journey. Believe in your capabilities and
continue to learn, grow, and empower others. Embrace every challenges
as opportunities for growth, and remember that you have the potential to
make a significant impact in the world around you. Stay true to your values,
and always strive to lead with integrity and empathy."

A big congratulations to Itr. Kimberly Legaspi, former president of the

Interact Club of Numancia Integrated School (Rotary Year 2022-2023), for
being selected as one of the recipients of the Youth Leadership Excellence
Award (YLEA), which was presented last August 6, 2023 at Citymall Kalibo.
Congratulations, Pres! Your Interact Club Family is so proud of you!
You have been a great inspiration to us, and to the youth in general. We
now strive to be excellent and give our all in everything we do because of
you. You have led us not as a president but more as a friend and an older
sister. You have motivated a lot of people with your acts and kind deeds
without asking for anything in return. You have worked hard for that and we
all know that you deserve it.
