PH DIPLOMACY NOV 14, 2022

One of the most important sources is domestic work of employment opportunities for
Filipinos both at home and abroad.  The practice of employing domestic help is historically
embedded in Filipino culture and remains a part of daily life. Related customs include
emigrating in search of work and the boarding of less well-off relatives in exchange for
household help are also socially acceptable and common. Many people go abroad because of
higher salaries compared to our country.
If I were the legal adviser to the President, I would likely present a proposal for the
sake of our unsung heroes, OFWs. That, the government must improve the labor development
system. The problem here in the Philippines is that you need experience to get a job so if you
don’t have you lose an opportunity to get one. The government and corporations should set
standards and give opportunities without experience and training during work for their
betterment of skills. Also, for better higher pay and benefits not only for the employer but for
their families, including scholarships grants to their children, and livelihood assistance. The
government must make wider research for newer and better jobs for the Filipino people. They
should have partnerships and good relationships with the big corporations for job
employment, environmental concerns that need workers, and livelihood long-term plans.
Furthermore, I would suggest an investment to these Filipino workers as their first
step in re-establishing or building new opportunities for them by allowing them to start their
own micro, small, or medium-sized businesses. Aside from loan provision and training, the
economic reintegration of OFWs can be incorporated. This can take the form of assisting in
the creation of value networks for returning migrant entrepreneurs who can demonstrate
advantages in the long run.
Following civil-society advocacy, the government established a number of
institutions, laws, and policies aimed at improving the protection of OFWs and their families
but it is lack of implementation. As a youth and a political science student, I will always use
social media platforms to raise awareness, have a peaceful rally for public voice, and enhance
public opinion so the government here my/ our concerns for our heroes, our OFW.
