PRAYER

Let us remember that we are

in the most Holy presence of God.
KINGDOM
KINGDOM
1. A country, state, or territory ruled by a
king or queen.
Ex. "the Kingdom of the Netherlands“

2. The spiritual reign or authority of God.

In this chapter, we are challenged
by the lesson to go in a mission
and follow what Jesus did.

God became human for

our salvation and
emphasized the love of the
Father towards us His
chosen.
In other words, Jesus is himself the
concrete manifestation of the
love of the Father.
In the Old Testament,
our concept of God is
abstract but in this
new chapter, God is
somebody who is
concrete and tangible
through the presence
of Jesus who is the
Messiah or the Christ.
MESSIAH or CHRIST

ANOINTED
ONE
Since everything is
abstract in the Old
Testament, we cannot
fully understand the
concept of God’s
Kingdom.
If someone asks us:
”Where is heaven?”,
we would just point the
sky and the clouds
because again that is
our unclear idea of
heaven.
God’s kingdom
is the central
image of the
message of
Jesus as this is
proclaimed in
the Gospels.
In this Quarter we
will see the
concept of God's
Kingdom through
the parables and
works of Jesus.
In the prayer
“Our Father”
we want the
Kingdom of God
to come.
For many of us Filipinos, the word “Kingdom” is
not a word frequently used because it has a
different concept. Most of us do not have a
very solid experience of the concept of
Kingdom because we have a different form of
government and our idea of a kingdom is just
a government.
In our own understanding, Kingdom is
a place where the form of
government is called "monarchy". This
government is usually led by the
royalties called the King and the
Queen.
The Kingdom of God is not like a the
fictional kingdom in the fairy tales. Let
us study the concept of the Kingdom
driven from the Scriptures and the
teachings of Christ.
OLD TESTAMENT CONCEPT OF
THE KINGDOM OF GOD:

-Israelites believe that Yahweh is

the creator of everything.

-Since God is the creator, then

obviously, He himself is the ruler.

-The Old Testament people

conceptualize heaven as a
POLITICAL STATE or TERRITORY
where God is King.
-God can do anything He
wants and wills.

-The prophets foretold them

that to concretize the Kingdom
of Heaven, they need a
POLITICAL MESSIAH to rule over
them until the fulfillment of the
OLD TESTAMENT through Jesus,
they are still waiting for a
Messiah.
New Testament concept of the Kingdom:

-Fulfilled in Jesus
who is the Messiah.

-Jesus is a “Rabbi”
(Teacher) who
taught in different
ways.
-God's kingdom is fulfilled
if we embrace God's
saving will.

-Commitment in God’s
saving will is an act of
every Christian to do all
things as an avenue to
reach God’s Kingdom.
We are in a sinful world
but we will attain the
kingdom of heaven if we
commit ourselves to do
God’s Holy will.
Jesus preaches
and performs
miracles to
show God's
Kingdom...
JESUS is the fulfillment of God's
Kingdom
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to
bring glad tidings of salvation to
the poor. He has sent me to
proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free and to
proclaimed a year acceptable to
the Lord.
Then after he read this, Jesus
continued: “Today this Scripture
passage is fulfilled in your hearing”

-Luke 4: 18-19
JESUS is the fulfillment of God's
Kingdom
The Obedience
of Jesus to the
will of the Father
made the
Kingdom of God
dwell here on
earth...
The actions of Jesus Christ to show God's
Kingdom are the following:
• He preached about the
kingdom.

CONCRETE MIRACLES:
• The deaf can hear
• The blind can see
• The lame can walk
• The dead is brought to life again
• The forgiveness of sinners
• The calming of negative
calamities
The preaching of Jesus
makes us realize that the
Kingdom of Heaven is
already here
and everyone is called
for SALVATION
Salvation is the act of freeing
people and even societies from
suffering and oppression. We are
freed physically and even
spiritually. We can embrace the
will of God if we allow salvation to
work in us through Christ Jesus our
Lord and King.
