for SWOODBox

Main point : Detail fundamentals principles and uses of SWOODBox in a simplified approach

I. SWOOBox uses

Insert
parametric
components

Create SWOODBox
Drive
customized as a way to SOLIDWORKS
rules ...

Create
machinings

II. Prerequisites
Use a template of SWOODBox including all the offset pre-configured

➢ This template can be done as a method to create a new template.

➢ All the offset planes should be set to the inside direction.
➢ It need to include:
o All the planes resulting from an offset of the SWOODBox planes
o All the parameters set as “not exposed” to control the offset dimension of the planes

III. SWOODBox Simple Shelve

1. Role of the SWOODBox Simple Shelve

2. Create a new SWOODBox using the template with offset planes

3. Change the value of the offsets to create the gap between the shelve and the frame
Set the following values to create the gap:

• Offset Back: 0 mm
• Offset Bottom: 0 mm
• Offset Top: 0 mm
• Offset Front: 1 mm
• Offset Right: 0.5 mm
• Offset Left: 0.5 mm

4. Hide the main planes and display only the “OFFSET_PLANES” to be sure to insert
components using them

5. Set exposed the offset parameters which will be used

• Offset Back: 0 mm
• Offset Bottom: 0 mm
• Offset Top: 0 mm
• Offset Front: 1 mm
• Offset Right: 0.5 mm
• Offset Left: 0.5 mm

Parameters to be exposed

6. Insert a panel between the offset planes

7. Test the SWOODBox and show that the panel size follow now the SWOODBox size

8. Create a sketch in the part to define the position of the 3 holes

Take care to constraint sketches only using planes or sketches. Do not use faces and edges.

Hide solid bodies and display extrusion sketch to be sure to define position of 3 holes using planes or
sketches.

Use sketch points to define the position of the holes.

9. Create machining using the sketches

Define a new drilling pattern:

11. Now link the position of the shelve with a new parameter

13. Create a new parameter to catch the thickness of the shelve

This parameter don’t need to be exposed and to drive the thickness because it’s just to pick the
value.

14. Use the script to center the shelve position

IV. SWOODBox Grooved Back

1. Role of the SWOODBox Grooved Back

• Insert the back panel into the frame

• Adapt the size of the back panel

according the size of the frame

• Create the groove into the parts of

the frame

2. Create a new SWOODBox using the template with offset planes

3. Flip the offset planes if needed to the correct direction

4. Change the value of the offsets to create the extension of the back into the frame
Set the following values to create the extension:

• Offset Back: 10 mm
• Offset Bottom: 10 mm
• Offset Top: 10 mm
• Offset Front: 0 mm
• Offset Right: 10 mm
• Offset Left: 10 mm

5. Hide the main planes and display only the “OFFSET_PLANES” to be sure to insert
components using them

6. Set exposed the offset parameters which will be used

• Offset Back: 10 mm
• Offset Bottom: 10 mm
• Offset Top: 10 mm
• Offset Front: 0 mm
• Offset Right: 10 mm
• Offset Left: 10 mm

9. Create top sketch in the assembly for the grooves
