“The viability of using an obsolete newspaper and Banana

peels as supplementary subcomponents for paper
production.”

OBJECTIVES
1. To assess the possibility use of banana peels and dated newspaper to
be a raw material in papermaking.
2. To Recognize banana peels and newspaper as environmentally friendly
papers that can be recycled.
3. To provide an alternative source to minimize the dependence on wood
in the manufacturing of paper.
4. To minimize environmental destruction in order to obtain paper, use
only recycled materials.
5. To measure how we can use banana peels to reduce ecological
problems.
It was revealed that paper made from banana peels has far more advantages than
standard wood-based paper. Because of the parchments in banana peels, paper contains
more fiber. It also has more cellulose, less lignin, and is 300 times stronger than regular
wood paper. Banana peels are also easily accessible, and banana trees grow quickly. It is
also water and fire resistant. As a result, it will be very capable of replacing wood.
Furthermore, it can reduce deforestation that has occurred in many forests for paper
production, providing flora and fauna with more safety to their habitats, which also serve
as a source of food and a safe place to live.

Several environmental contamination problems can be solved. For example, with the
benefits of banana peel waste that we used, there is less quantity of acidic gases produced
by this waste released to the open air, making a healthier air source for us to breathe and
preventing one of the sources of air pollution.
