The EP Project
Analyse the components of modern music and realise your own music
ideas, adopting a professional methodology.
Task 2 – EP Project
Your group will analyse the make up of songs, starting with the
structure and arrangement, and then the musical and sonic textures
found within. There are practical exercises to complete that will help you
devise an audio recording.
A ‘Desert Island Discs’ inspired recording, completed with resources
available to you, will allow you to use display your new understanding of
techniques and terminology associated with composition.
Select 3 songs that you would take to a desert island and, by using technical
and musical language, discuss the elements of each that you appreciate.
Task 2 – EP Project
You will work towards the production of an EP that consists of 3 songs.
You are encouraged to use originality. Although the 3 songs should
have a loose theme, each should be unique.
Evidence of working towards: a range of audio and musical elements
that show work towards 3 recordings, based on resources available to
you.
One song should be ‘acoustic’, that is to say does not contain any MIDI
instruments.
One song should be comprised of only MIDI instruments (except for vocals if
required).
The third song does not have limitations, and can be a combination of
elements.
The accompanying WIX site will give you an example as to exactly what is expected.
Where access to resources may become difficult, showing how you have worked towards an end result will
validate the submission.
