UAL Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance and Production

The Brief:

Begin to develop music technology skills by researching areas of popular

music and by applying the principles of basic sound recording.

Task 1 - Create recordings using Logic X.

Use Logic software to: make at least one completed solo music recording;
and create one group podcast recording.

- In sessions you will be shown how to start and develop music projects
on Logic for a variety of contexts. Develop at least one project so it
reaches the completed stage.

- In small groups you will be given their own podcast theme. You will
work together to: gather research and write a script; collect audio and
music from the era; present, record and edit the podcast.

Task 2 – Present your work using the WIX website template assigned to you.
Evaluate the process.

All evidence to be available on your assigned WIX site:

1. Audio recordings (one solo music recording no less than 2 min, and one group
podcast)

2. A completed website will cover all of the assessment criteria through the following
page headings:

Context: Reiterate the tasks, showing an understanding of what is required, and suggest why
you were asked to undertake them.

Research & Planning: Show links to all research for the podcast. Within your group develop a
plan with a timeline and set goals/targets.

Audio: Upload your individual music recording/s and the final group podcast.

Process: Give step-by-step accounts as to how software and other technical aspects were
used when you completed both your solo and group recordings. Use photos/screen shots
where appropriate.

Evaluation: Audio record a group evaluation of the process and upload it. If you think not all
areas of the process were covered, an additional written evaluation of your own experience
can be added.
