1) What’s better – Regular College or correspondence courses?

Education is one of the most important parts of life. When it comes to college education it
becomes all more essential to select the right course and right form of learning. There are
people who don’t opt for regular college instead finds it better to go for correspondence courses
where there is no need to attend the physical classes. Before making any final choice it is better
to understand the pros and cons of both the courses. What do you think, what’s better- Regular
College or correspondence courses?

Regular College

• It is the classroom environment present in the regular college that becomes a place for direct
social interaction. It cannot be found in correspondence courses.

• Correspondence courses is not ideal for all the students as it demands a strict discipline
approach to be followed otherwise all the time and energy goes wasted.

• In the regular college, there are friends, teachers and mentors who are the source of
motivation and are always there to solve the problems.

• Correspondence courses degrees are not accepted everywhere whereas regular college
degrees have their own recognition.

• There are many courses that are not available through correspondence and in that case only
regular college is the option.

• Regular college provides assistance by planning campus placements that is absent in

correspondence course.

Correspondence Courses

• The best benefit of opting for correspondence class is the flexibility. The course can be done
from the comfort of home with a computer and internet connection. It can even be done
without a connection with the physical books.

• There is no need to waste the time in commuting from home to college instead it can be used
for some other constructive purposes.

• Correspondence courses are the best choice of education who cannot afford the heavy fees of
the regular colleges. It also saves the transportation and other campus related costs.
• Correspondence courses are the best option for the girls who are from orthodox families and
are not allowed to enroll for regular colleges.

• The working people or the student who have to work while learning process can opt for the
correspondence courses. It gives the degree and along with gains the working experience and
income.

Conclusion

College learning and education is fairly structured where students know about their sessions
and learning plans. But there are times when students don’t have any other option but to enroll
for the correspondence course. They might seem easy and flexible at first glance but in fact
requires a lot more discipline and efforts to complete it successfully. They are not a bad choice,
but the only thing it should be opted only when you don’t have the option for regular college.
Also, select the type of mode that suits your personal needs, strengths and career objectives.

2 ) Whatsapp is killing minds!

A Saudi man divorced his wife after she ignored his whatsapp messages. The husband said that his wife
used to spend all her time on whatsapp messaging platform. Due to the addiction, she even ignored her
children. Whatsapp is not a new thing in the market. Even the people who are not educated are well
aware of the messaging platform. The messaging app that started as a boon can turn into a bane, if not
used carefully. It is killing mind of people. Do you agree?

Yes

• The youngsters are getting addicted to the messaging platform like other addictive substances. It is
more of an addiction rather than convenience.

• People are not using the messaging platform for connecting with friends or relatives instead they just
want to check out the their presence on messaging platform.

• A messaging platform connects people, but whatsapp is creating bridges between people. The app, in
many cases, is creating unnecessary doubts in relationships.

• The start as well as end of the day happens with whatsapp. And, if people don’t find any messages
they start feeling low.

• People are so occupied with the use of whatsapp that they are unable to differentiate between real
and factual relationships. We can easily notice that while you are talking all the time to your friends on
Whatsapp, you hardly have an interaction with your immediate family. This also points out the fact that
while people have a lot of friends on Whatsapp network, there's hardly any friend available whom they
can talk out their heart face to face.
No

• Whatsapp has become the largest messaging app, and it is just because it has allowed people to come
closer to each other.

• There are some people who are not involved in any work, and such people are only addicted to
whatsapp, not everyone.

• Whatsapp has allowed the school friends and distant relatives to come and talk at one place. It doesn’t
kill mind but helps the people to cherish the old good memories and relationships.

• In a world, where people don’t have time to meet friends, whatsapp has allowed people to share their
problems with friends on messaging platform regardless of time and location.

• Whatsapp is now even used by many firms and organizations for sharing of important information
among employees.

• If used properly, Whatsapp can help generate new business opportunities and close the existing deals
faster.

Conclusion

Every thing in this world has two sides, one positive and one negative. The use of Whatsapp is no
different. It is not a black or white app, but a grey app whose pros and cons are decided by the user
himself. The people are more isolated than before in the present world. Some make their world better
by using the app, and some make themselves more isolated after using this app. In all the cases, balance
is the key.

3) Can earthquake be predicted?

Introduction:

A series of devastating earthquake shook Nepal and north eastern regions of India, leaving the once
beautiful country region with pain grained on faces of people and debris where once stood haven for
these people. Lives lost, homes shattered and never ending agony lingers in Nepal. An earthquake of
such high magnitude, measuring 7.9 on Richter scale is the deadliest of its kind that once shook the
same region 80 years back. In the past 80 years the world underwent remarkable changes, development
and innovation that makes life easier and more predictable regarding storms and intense weather
calamity forecasts to help prepare for natural disasters in advance. But why are we still lagging behind
when it comes to predicting earthquakes? Apart from making infrastructures more sustainable, can
nothing more be done to help people evacuate the region which is about to be turned into debris within
minutes?

No:

1. Scientists and experts have confirmed time and again that earthquakes cannot be predicted. An
estimation can only be made by scientists about the probability of an earthquake in high seismic activity
zones. Even the most advanced countries that carry out the best of innovative research and studies
have failed to make an accurate estimation of earthquake predicting even in the most earthquake prone
regions. Perhaps in years to come science will be able to determine means of determining earthquake
risks but at present it is just in theory.

2. False rumours started doing rounds on WhatsApp and Facebook that about even deadlier
earthquakes being predicted by NASA. The only truth in the messages were aftershocks that were
anticipated to follow such high magnitude earthquake and rightly so because the affected regions have
felt tremors off and on in the last three days. Aftershocks can be predicted but not primary earthquake.

3. According to a geological report : "It is not currently possible to make deterministic predictions of
when and where earthquakes will happen. For this to be possible, it would be necessary to identify a
‘diagnostic precursor’ – a characteristic pattern of seismic activity or some other physical, chemical or
biological change, which would indicate a high probability of an earthquake happening in a small
window of space and time. So far, the search for diagnostic precursors has been unsuccessful. Most
geoscientists do not believe that there is a realistic prospect of accurate prediction in the foreseeable
future, and the principal focus of research is on improving the forecasting of earthquakes."

4. Earthquakes originate many kilometers down into the ground so measuring changes depends largely
on instruments that can predict from the surface. Even measuring the prevailing intensity in the crust is
challenging, for it requires drilling several kilometers into the ground. Just to predict earthquakes, we
cannot go about drilling the grounds everywhere once in a while.

5. Some are of the view that changing pattern in animal behavior can determine an upcoming
earthquake in the region. This could be true because the senses of animals are far more sensitive than
human senses. They can sense the tremor or changes in usual patterns hours before the actual hit and
can show change in behavior. But change in animal behavior can also be due to various other reasons so
cannot be determined if they are predicting earthquake.

6. Some people say that they can sense upcoming disaster usually natural disasters but again even if the
person has some sixth sense into the prospective, not everyone would believe and evacuate on being
alarmed by a person's senses.
Yes:

1. Nepal's big earthquake was long predicted not just because of natural causes but because of
manmade ones , about 50 earthquake and social scientists from around the world came to the same
region to figure out how to get this poor, congested, overdeveloped, shoddily built area to prepare for
the big shock. Seismologist James Jackson, head of the earth sciences department at the University of
Cambridge in England recalls thinking of the incident as a nightmare waiting to happen. People
continued concentrating in earthquake prone areas, lacking building codes and rampant development,
allowing homes and other structures to be built without any regard to earthquakes.

2. Plate movement can be detected using laser beams. Seismometers can be used to keep a check on
vibrations in the earth's crusty, an increase in which predicts earthquake approaching in the region.

3. Radon gas that escapes from cracks in earth's crust can also be kept in check and an increase in its
level can suggest earthquake risks in the region. It is understandable that these are not 100% accurate
in predicting earthquake but being cautious is better than being ignorant.

Conclusion:

Currently there is no scientific method to predict an approaching earthquake in a particular region at a

particular time but in years to come, we can definitely hope for better techniques to determine the
factors. Meanwhile, countries should enforce building codes and ensure that the concentration remains
less in areas prone to natural disasters. Earthquake sustainable building should be constructed and
locals should be trained on how to remain cautious during these disasters.

2) Private or government hospital: which one would you prefer?

Introduction:

The special treatments, effortlessness, cleanliness, and advanced facilities provided in private hospitals
across the country make us rush to them in cases of simple or serious illness. We cannot deny that the
level of comfort a patient and his caretakers receive in private hospitals is far advanced in comparison to
what we find in government run hospitals. However, you will be shocked to know that in a metro city
like Kolkata where numerous private hospitals have sprung, it’s still only the two government hospitals
in the city -SSKM and RG Kar -that have a burn unit. Some of the private hospitals have burn treatment
unit but they are equipped with lesser facilities that makes them treat only patients with 50% burn. In
serious cases, the patient has to be carried to the government hospital. That makes us think whether it
is private hospital or the government ones that are more reliable.

Private hospitals are better:

1.Better equipped: Since private hospitals are aided by a group of people who would not risk their
reputation in the business, they ensure better equipping of the hospital facilities. You never have to rush
around in private hospitals for tests and reports since the staff takes care of these things. Good quality is
ensured, making treatment easier and more advanced.

2. Individual care: In private hospitals, patients are individually taken care of in the most specialized way
whereas in government hospitals, the kind of care allotted to patients is more generic. If you have ever
visited the general ward in a government hospital, you will know that the condition of patients already
suffering from an ailment is pathetic.

3. Hygiene: Cleanliness and hygiene is better maintained in private hospitals. It is highly important that
hospitals needs to be clean and regularly disinfected to prevent contagion to other patients and the
visitors. This is one of the most lacking part in government hospitals where even the patient’s wards are
in the same condition as the lavatory area of the hospital. This happens to be one of the major reasons
why most people prefer private hospitals.

4. Vigilance: Private hospitals are more secure for individuals since patients are always under the
observation of specialists. There are more security measure as well such as CCTV cameras and guards.
The number of babies stolen or exchanged due to gender differences from the maternity wards of
government hospitals is disturbingly high.

Government hospitals are better:

1. Expenses: The cost of treatment in government hospitals is very low in comparison to the bills of a
private hospital. The government hospitals are funded entirely by the government and hence there are
even free treatment facilities to poor families. Apart from these aids, the government also provides
monetary help to patients of poor families towards their good health through government hospitals.

2. Treatment to complex ailments: The government hospitals are better equipped to deal with serious
and critical conditions like severely burnt cases. In these cases when the patients rush to private
hospitals in order to get better individual care, they simply refuse to take the patient in and they have to
be rushed to government hospitals immediately. Government hospitals have specialists to take care of
most of the severe ailments.

Conclusion:

Government aids hospitals to provide better care and cost effective treatment to patients who could not
afford to pay the bills of private hospitals. But the poor conditions of government hospitals, the
negligence of doctors there, lack of beds, lack of hygiene makes it worse and the patient’s family is
nearly afraid of admitting their patients in government hospitals. The government must take measures
to ensure that the hospitals not only provide cost effective treatment but also provide better care and
facilities to the ailing patients.

3) Being rich is being successful

Money is vital in everyday life. It is required to organize the daily activities and lead a comfortable life.
Money is essential to pay for house, food, insurance, clothes, education expenses etc. Also, it is an
important factor that defines if a person is successful or not. Do you agree with this? Do the people who
earn lots of money and are rich enough are only successful? Let us discuss on the topic, “Being rich is
being successful.”

Yes

• We live in a materialistic world where everything including relationships is defined by money. If there
is no money, there is no scope to sustain in the materialistic world.

• In the present world, even beauty can be bought with money. There are many popular film-stars who
opted for surgeries and now are successful in their career.

• For being successful it is essential to acquire good education and again it comes from money. Success
and money cannot be separated from each other.

• In Indian society, a girl is called successful if she gets a good husband and family. Even if a girl is not
beautiful but her parents are millionaire, she will find a guy for marriage easily. That is why being rich is
called as being successful.

• Parents start differentiating between their own kids on basis of their earnings. More importance is
given to the child who is earning more.

No

• There are many gangsters who have huge amount of money. But in no case they can be called as
successful in our society.

• The definition of success varies from person to person, and therefore it is not essential that rich
person might always feel successful.

• There are many rich and famous people who have attempted suicides in their life. If being rich is being
successful, then what made them to take such disastrous steps?
• Being successful is being satisfied with whatever things we have. Money cannot buy satisfaction and
happiness, and a person without these feelings cannot be called as successful.

• Sanjay Dutt is a son of a famous politician and is one of the richest celebrities. Still, he is behind lock-
up. Is this what we call as success?

Conclusion

Here, it is important to know that being rich is definitely being a successful person. Most of the times,
success is defined in terms of money. However, again success and rich, these are two relative terms and
holds different definitions for different people. A person with Rs 10, 000 salary may think himself as rich
and successful while a person with Rs25, 000 salary might not be happy.

4) Hard work or Smart work - Which is important?

Work is important to do as it takes us to the next level of success. The most important question you
should ask at this place is what kind of work will take you to that level: is it hard work or smart work.

For

- Smart work is really the need of the hour.

- Smart work saves lots of time and allows you to be more organized.
- Through smart work your goals can be reached faster.
- Doing smart work allows you to save time for other things which you might not get by doing hard work
like, exercise, spending time with family etc.
- Smart work brings lots of recognition from the society and allows you to grow more in the industry you
are in.

Against

- Hard work takes lots of time just to make things correct.

- It is totally time consuming and exhausting experience, as after doing lots of work you left out with less
energy to do anything else.
- Hard work doesn't allow you to fully use your brain and it pushes you for more physical work.
- In terms of determination and persistence hard work is really important but not lot can be achieved.
- Working hard is not enough as it might not bring the best result of a problem or a situation.
I would like to conclude in the end that smart work is really important as it saves time and allows you to
reach your goals faster than that of a hard work.

On the basis of Indian organic society this thing is completely true. There is a lot of creativity in human
beings, but only few people execute their ideas, and being successful, because they have money and
resources to do that thing. I know this is not a compulsion thing, but can you imagine how many
percentage of the total world population is being successful without money? Less than 1% . In today’s
word scenario every person has capital problem, the only only resource to make money is money itself.
The definition of rich and successful people is almost same- they can manage their indoor and outdoor
problem very easily

5) Private or Government School - Which is better?

Introduction

The debate between the comparison of private and government educational institutes will go on till
eternity. Both have their own significance in their respective fields. Both types of institutes have much
to nurture and reproduce the future champions of India. Is that only the schools who are responsible for
the development of the children? If so, which could be better private or the Government ones? Many
feel that the private institutes are better over government schools, is that true?

Private

- Private schools have better infrastructure required for the physical and mental development of the
child. They can help with the required facilities for the students to learn their lessons in a better way.
The infrastructure can help them to have a practical approach to education.

- The private institutes are better in their approach towards the psychological development of the
children.

- Private schools maintain better hygiene and environment which could safeguard the health of the
students.

- The education imparted in the private schools are more of audio-visual now-a-days with the
emergence of computers into the learning.

- Private schools can also provide better sport activities and equipments for the physical development of
the children.

- Students can learn the civilized and modern approach which is of demand in the MNC culture which is
feeding many of us in present era.

Government

- Government schools are affordable and they provide the minimum required infrastructure to meet the
basic needs.

- Private schools do not accommodate the low economic group students. Right to education is the
freedom for everyone, and government schools provide education to all the children without any
partiality.

- Policies like ‘ Free and compulsory education’ and ‘ Education to the girl child’ are made possible only
in the government schools.

- Government schools also provide the basic sports facilities and physical education to the students.

- Private schools cannot compete in the essential educational requirements of the staffs that the
government schools fulfil.

- Government institutes also provide good salary to their teaching and management faculties.

Conclusion

Private schools are definitely better than government schools as they would provide better
infrastructure, better teacher to student ratio, have a clean & hygienic facility, provide better
environment for students with options of personality development and extracurricular activities.
Government schools may not be able to offer all these features but for those who cannot afford private
schools, getting their children in government schools is better than no schooling at all.

6) English should continue to be the official language of India.

English is used as the official language in India. Recently, when PM Modi used Hindi for its diplomatic
talks, it surged agitation in non-Hindi states especially Tamil Nadu. Also, the recent NDA government’s
proposal of giving importance to Hindi language on social media accounts faced stiff opposition by the
Tamil Nadu CM and other regional parties. It is considered as violating the Official Languages Act, 1963”
In the country where most of the people understand Hindi, is it Ok to continue with English as the
official language of the country?

Yes
• English is one such language that is understood by people from different castes and states, and
therefore deserves to be the official language of India.

• If any other language is tried to make the official language, all the regional parties will start the battle
of making the state level as official language of India.

• If Hindi is given priority then it will create differences among the people who don’t speak it making
them feel as second class citizens.

• Region C forms an important part of India that got agitated when PM Modi used Hindi for its
diplomatic talks.

• The use of English language is as per the requirement of being a part of globalization and there is
nothing wrong in it.

No

• Forget about all the different castes and religions as Indians have their own national language that is
Hindi, and that should only be the official language of India.

• It is the duty of the government to take the measures so that people all over in India can read, write
and speak in Hindi.

• Already Indian has adopted the western culture in many ways. If it continues there will be no personal
or rather say national identity of India.

• In this case, India should learn something from Pakistan who made the Urdu as their official language
after the division of country.

• The small little steps are the ways that will make sure that the people from different religion have at
least something in common as Indians.

• English might be used as the official language of India but is the unofficial lingua franca in South Asia.
When it is not official for the region, why make it official for the country.

Conclusion

English should not be the official language of India. It is an internal matter of country, and the central
government should seriously consider changing the present scenario. Hindi represents India, and when
the people in India don’t understand Hindi, it is a matter of shame for country. Why the regional parties
wants to make the regional language as official language when Hindi represents India. The different
regions are part of India. So, they should have proficiency in Hindi. However, till the time, these regions
don’t understand Hindi; government has no option but to have English as the official language of India.

7) Women are better managers

Art of management is a gift to women by nature. Women are born to take responsibilities and
perform them flawlessly. They can easily manage everything without a crease on their
forehead.

For
- Women are the ones who are expected to handle various responsibilities from the childhood
which makes them a good multi-tasker.
- Be it managers in the top companies or the ones who are managing their homes, women in all
areas manage their work flawlessly.
- Their inherent qualities make them good managers as they are more patient in the difficult
situation and are able to manage situations with their positive attitude and calm mind compared
to their counter partners.
- They have the quality of managing their children and are simultaneously able to concentrate
on their career.

Against
- Women are very emotional and soft hearted which is considered as a weakness in managing
things. They are not practical about the situations.
- They might be good at managing things at home but this same strategy cannot be applied in
the external environment where they have to work for an organization.
- They might have all the qualities of managing like courage, patience, understanding etc but
these are not the only key qualities required to manage a vast workforce or other difficult
situations.
- Today we have progressed a lot but there are many women who are not given a chance to
prove themselves or are not given enough responsibilities to showcase their potential.
- A woman alone won’t be able to manage things if she is not supported by her family
members.

We all are born with some weakness and strengths. In the same way women also have some
strengths and weakness. They have the power to change their weakness into their strengths. If
she does that then there is no stopping for her.

8) Should tablets replace text books?

The present world is a tech-savvy world where children are more informed about the latest gadgets
and technological advancements. Many a times, elders need to consult the children to know about the
various features of mobile or tablet. Time is changing and it is really important to analyze the ways
through which education is imparted to the primary kids. In a changing scenario, do you think tablets
should take the place of text books in junior classes?

Yes

• If tablets take the place of books the children don’t have to carry the big bags full of different books.

• The present generation of children is more attracted towards technology and they will openly learn
the things on tablets.

• The use of tablets will allow children from various backgrounds to stay updated with the latest
technology.

• It will be more fun to learn and get the education on tablets. Children won’t feel like they are forced
to study.

• The use of tablets is one of the effective ways to save the environment. There will be no need to cut
the trees or opt for printing books.

No

• Who said that tablets are an effective way to save the environment? Manufacturing of one tablet
uses 79 gallons of water and produces 66 pounds of carbon dioxide.

• The technological devices should not be used for long term. It adversely affects the health of the
people.

• The tablets are an expensive form of the education that cannot be afforded by children of all
sections.

• The parents are not tech-savvy, and they might find it really difficult to guide the children in their
studies.

• Books if lost or damage don’t cost more, but if in any case tablet is lost or damaged it can prove quite
expensive to the parents.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that the world is getting more tech-savvy and digital. Still it is not the right time to
replace the books by tablets. The time will come when it will be feasible, when tablets will become
really cheap and the parents will be more comfortable with the new form of education. But today it
cannot be made compulsory.

9) China - A threat to India?

China has been in the news for various reasons, sometimes for the Chinese intrusion on the
Indian Territory and sometimes for other reasons which have become a part of concern for the
government of India.

For

- China is the largest country in the East Asia and India needs many more years to catch up
with it.
- China is world’s third largest and fastest growing economy.
- It has the world’s largest standing army with the second largest defence budget.
- It is world’s second largest exporter and third largest importer of goods.
- China has excelled us in all the ways be it infrastructure, growing economies, sustainable
development etc.
- Now China has also started claiming some of the India’s border which is a worrying situation
for India.

Against
- May be China has a large army but they don’t have experience which India has.
- India has more favorable diplomatic situation in the world.
- Chinese economy is dependent on exports to a great extent, if it tries to disrupt peace in India
or any other part of the world, its market would suffer.
- Inability to converse fluently in English is one of the major problems chinese face - which
will still take some years for them to work on.

Though China is becoming powerful by building its infrastructure etc., it not a threat to India.

10) Degree or skill – what is more important?

Introduction

Degree and skill are two sides of the same coin. To succeed in the race of life, a person need to have a
degree along with the skill. A degree without the skill would be as empty as the skill without the
degree. Both need to go hand-in-hand in order to be the survival of the fittest. Degree is nothing but
the certified documentation of the skill within the individual. Every person having the skill may not
manage to attain the degree. Similarly, every degree holder is not necessarily skilled. The requirement
of the degree or skill depends upon the organization, the nature of post etc. On a general outlook,
which criteria carries more weightage – the degree or the skill?

Degree

- Degree is an authenticate certificate that the person applying for the post is having the knowledge of
the work requirement and has the ability to manage the functioning and justify the post.
- Degree makes a person more confident in his approach and outlook. These things are an essential
part of the personality development.

- Degree can make a person more polite, humble and wiser. This could be in order to take charge of
the job or to climb the success ladder. But these things are difficult to manage without a degree in
hand.

- A degree earns respect and social reputation. A person is assessed through his qualifications which is
reflected by his degree.

- Degree earns money and status for its master. The more specialised the degree, the higher the post
and status and higher is the salary package.

Skill

- Every degree holder is not necessarily skilled. It is the skill that helps to achieve the target and not
the degree.

- Skill is an abstract term which cannot be evaluated on the bits of paper. It is a broad spectrum which
is groomed within the individual and nurtured through the repeated practical implications in life.

- It is not the degree but the skill that achieves success. A degree can just earn the job, but it cannot
help to grow further without the skill.

- It is skill which attracts the employers, clients and management which lifts or drops the person.
Without the skill, the person would not be able to catch hold the interest of their superiors and attain
success.

- The great people from the history were all skilled people, but they didn’t had the certifications for
their knowledge.

Conclusion

Degree is the theoretical evaluation of an abstract concept which is virtually not possible. It is the skill
that helps the person to grow up both materially / financially and immaterially with respect to the
status, importance, social respect and recognition etc. Degree definitely has its own importance, as a
person need to have some skill in order to achieve the degree. A complete dumb individual cannot
qualify to attain the degree. Hence , we can summarize by saying that the degree is the first step in
the ladder of skills which leads to the success in life.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail

Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a direct investment into production or business in a

country by a company in another country, either by buying a company in the target country
or by expanding operations of an existing business in that country. Foreign direct
investment is in contrast to portfolio investment which is a passive investment in the
securities of another country such as stocks and bonds.

FOR

Indian Govt.allow foreign multibrand retailers like Walmart and Tesco to open shop in the

country ,which has been trying to get India’s lagging economy back on track

FDI should not be implemented in all sectors. It must be implemented in those areas from

where we can get maximum benefit of improving our technology and our economy.

healthy competition that foreign stores would create that can bring down prices.

farmers getting their proper share due to direct procurement of these stores

availability of varied products for consumers

possibility of lower inflation

chance of creating more jobs in retail sector

AGAINST

Is the traditional middlemen,  the biggest winners of today’s retail structure?

small traders & stores could lose to high end multi brand stores

The Entry of Walmart and Big Retail Chains Will Change India

cheap imported goods might wipe out Indian products

govt. must control middle men & hoarders to strengthen the current chain than to allow

foreign companies into India

policies must be formulated to increase production

local farmers will benefit only if these companies procure from them. What if they don't?

Mobile phones / Internet – a boon or nuisance

FOR

Everyone is available to others for 24x7.

understand the fact it also provide limited connectivity options like you can switch of the
mobiles.
Mobile proved life saver for human beings in many areas related with human health.

Mobile proved boon for businesses as well where crucial information is at reach for
corporate decisions.

Mobile phones made life easy for people who are going to distant areas for expeditions to be
in touch with rest of world.

Parents gift mobile phone to their children, to enable them to contact during emergencies.
Parents get update from school on their safe arrival.

AGAINST

Mobile phone is hazard for human life as due to electromagnetic waves many people are
suffering health problems of cancer etc.

Mobile phones give unlimited connectivity for human life which made the life miserable for
people who have been over using the mobile phones.

Few people claim that user can control mobile usage but in many cases switching of mobile
phones considered as unprofessional so people not able to cope up with this requirement
and over utilizing the mobiles.

Over utilizing of mobile is ruining social life of people by communicating on phones rather be
in touch personally with friends and relatives.

Mobile phones also deterring the traditions because people are more busy on talking on
phones on various ceremonies and rituals.

Mobile phones also deterring the office atmosphere as many employees spending more time
on mobiles rather on work.

Mobile phones causing accidents because people are using them while driving.

Younger generation waste lot of money on endless cell phone conversation which can be
avoided

Position of Women in India compared to other nations

Tips for Group discussion:

"A man and a woman are like two wheels of a cart. The cart can move fast and safely too,
when both of them pull it in the same direction and with equal strength. Hence no
developing country or society can afford to ignore the role of women, if they are to
progress."

In the modern times, women in India are given freedom and rights such as freedom of
expression and equality, as well as right to get education.

Women in Contemporary India are doing the same what a male can do.

Various prestigious positions are held by Indian women.

They are enjoying the `ladies first` facility in various fields.

But still problems like dowry, female infanticide, sex selective abortions, health, domestic
violence, are prevalent in the society.

Several acts have been passed to demolish all these problems. But illiteracy and lack of
awareness are the obstacles in the path of Indian women to stand against these follies.

Main reson why women neglect in society: the customs and traditions prevalent for
centuries, The high percentage of illiteracy among women, Ignorance of their rights,
Patriarchal Society, Economic system, Unchecked male domination in all walks of life.

We can now see women employed in all fields not only in clerical jobs but also in I.A.S.,
I.P.S. and Indian Air Force. There are reservations in legislatures also.

The Central Government has introduced a bill in Parliament reserving one third of the seats
in Parliament and other elected bodies for women.

Is China better than India in software

FOR

More and more Chinese universities are setting up specialized training modules for students
in the software and the IT-sector and for the first time in the Chinese academic history, the
instructions are being carried out in English language.

Chinese experts are starting local software and service companies. Such companies will be
very successful training grounds for future local entrepreneurs. They will add to the speed of
local development. Combine these with relatively open policies of the local government in
enabling the starting of new ventures and you can have a rapid increase in new companies.

The Chinese Communist government has been a clear advocate of the top-down
management principle which makes the management norms and processes much less time
consuming and gets rid of the time consuming model followed by their Indian counterparts.
The Chinese also enjoy more logistic support in the form of better infrastructure facilities.

Although the Indian software industry enjoys innovative excellence over their Chinese
counterparts, Chinese software majors are better equipped in providing the software backup
and maintenance facilities. The Chinese also enjoy better emulating efficiency thanks to
their high average “IQ” (China stands at the top most position in the list of the average IQ).

The Indian software industry is more vulnerable thanks to the higher dependence on the
western corporate customers. More than a quarter of the Indian software business was from
the United States, whereas China on the other hand is more dependent on its domestic
market and a major share of the revenues is received from the domestic market itself which
makes it less vulnerable to international conditions.

AGAINST

India surely enjoys a lead over China, thanks to its low cost model which is difficult to
emulate, followed by the number of cost benefits such as the cheapest available manpower
after countries like Argentina and Brazil, which makes the Indian software industry a more
lucrative proposition.

India also scores over China as it enjoys the benefits of having the largest English speaking
population (even more than the United Kingdom) which makes it easier for the Indian
software experts to understand the demands of their foreign customers.

India also enjoys the lead thanks to the biggest pool of technocrats and engineers; it churns
out more then 400000 engineering professionals every year and the efficiency of an Indian
software graduate is considered more than above average as compared to software
professionals belonging to any other part of the world as per the software industrial norms.

India also benefits as it enjoys a democratic government as compared to its “communist

counterpart” China which makes the Indian industry more transparent and flexible in its
working. India also enjoys an early lead advantage in the form of three of its companies
ranking among the top-5 software firms in the world. China concentrates more on its
domestic growth, whereas the Indian software industry in more dependent on exports and
outsourcing.

India’s long-term potential may be greater than China’s as the communist giant faces a
shrinking work force due to its “one child policy” whereas India enjoys an ever increasing
work force. Population, in this case, seems to act as a boon for the Indian software industry
rather than a liability.

According to DBS, Nasscom is targeting $60 billion worth of Indian exports by 2010, while
the Chinese government wants software exports to hit just $10 billion that same year.
India’s software and services exports will cross $40 billion in fiscal 2008 with the domestic
market estimated at $23 billion.

Balance between Professionalism & Family

Professionalism and family can be described as the two sides of the same coin as both are
equally important in one's life.

Profession gives us an individual identity and financial security and family gives us an
emotional security.

In today's hitech busy lifestyle one cannot find the time to spend with his/her family. They
may lead a luxurious life but there is absence of peace of mind.

Without profession there will be no meaning of our life in present generation. Profession is
not for just to earn money for family but for our self satisfaction.

With the development of newer technologiesand each and everything we need money not
only for fill our hunger but also for survival in the better society.

professionalism is important but not as much as relationships.

Professionalism is not all about being a workaholic. It is all about knowing your priorities
and acting professionally both at the workplace and at home.

Being more workaholic leads to express frustration on family members. It will lead to a bad
impact on children.

Some people are not spending with their family even in holidays to earn more money. They
should remember that money is just a tool for happiness. Money can't give someone who
shares our sorrows and happiness.

If we concentrate only on professionalism we may get fame and money but we loose many
sweetest moments in our life.

Going to abroad for just to earn money is not a good choice. He can't be replaced by money
for his family.
Some people are not concentrating on their children because they are giving much more
priority to their profession. So

children may feel unsecured and it may lead to wrong path.

To achieve goals sometimes we need to sacrifice family. For example the people in the army
,inorder to serve the country they have to stay away from their families.

If both parents are working it's better to stay in joint family. So that children will be taken
care by their relatives.
Avoid procrastination.

Plan the weekends with family by keeping the office matters aside.

Prioritize the things and plan effectively. So that one can have free time.

We should not do office work in the home unless we really need to.

If we spend some time with family, obviously there will be need to go to the psychiatrist for
stress relief.

The ultimate goal of everyone is being happy. So, We must make ourselves and our family
happy.

Make a habit of saying 'no' to the unimportant matters and spend that time with family.

If one of the track is damaged in railway track, train will be derailed, so as in life,
professionalism & family plays same role.

Inner strength plays a big role in balancing professionalism and family.

If we learn to balance between professionalism and family, our children follows us and stays
in the correct path.

Education in India compared to Foreign nations

Our Indian Education System needs to be changed and reformed. There is no practical
knowledge in our education system. Our education system mainly focus on theoretical
knowledge.  Educational systems are gaining profit out of the students they are demanding
lot of money to provide a valuable course because of this people who are in poverty line are
not able to afford lots and lots of money to get educated though they are brilliant to gain
knowledge.

Secondly the education system is based on forward and backward class which is an
hindrance because backward class does not get a quality education. Thirdly our education
system does not give us the courage to face real life situations.

Other countries, especially the industrial powers, have reputable colleges and universities
that boast of providing top quality education.

In terms of literacy, India is one of those at the top of the world rankings. In fact, Indians
are known to be avid readers. According to a survey, an Indian reads an average of almost
11 hours a week.

Privatization in education is good or bad

Impact of privatization is penetrating all sectors of the economy, it is bound to affect

education sector as well

Profit-making schools threaten the moral purpose of education

Private education trusts often become merely profit making business ventures with no social
ideals or objectives.

The public sector is hampered by lack of resources and cannot meet the needs of industry
and other sectors of the economy.

While India can boast of having the third largest higher education system in the world,

reality is that India is facing a severe shortage of skilled human resources

Private institutes have high fees so the poor cannot afford the fee.

Opening the Engineering colleges is just a business for some money minded people they do
not have any sympathy for these students

Reservation for women would help the society

For:

1. There is no valid point till date which makes any women unequal in comparison to a
man.
2. Giving reservation to women would give them encouragement. They would not be
recognized in society as mere “domestic” workers.
3. Reservation should not be given to treat them superior; it should be given to help
people understand that they are equal. This is because, few communities in India still
believe in “female foeticide”. Little do they know that it’s a woman that delivers a
man

Against:

1. If women need to do something for the society and country, there is no need for
reservation.
2. Instead of concentrating on reservation, the society can be improved by
concentrating on other ethical issues.
3. There have been many great and famous women in politics that did what they could
for society. They didn’t any special reservation!
4. Women may undoubtedly take advantage of reservation to defend themselves.
5. Although reservations should be encouraged and Like they say “Great powers come
with great responsibility”, it should become a moral responsibility of women to not
misuse the same
