Setting up Windows Network Time Server (NTP)

1. Change the server type to NTP. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

b. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\Type

c. In the right pane, right-click Type, and then click Modify.


d. In Edit Value, type NTP in the Value data box, and then click OK.

2. Set AnnounceFlags to 5, by using the following steps:


a. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Config\AnnounceFlags
b. In the right pane, right-click AnnounceFlags, and then click Modify.
c. In Edit DWORD Value, type 5 in the Value data box, and then click OK.

3. Enable NTPServer by using the following steps:


a. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpServer
b. In the right pane, right-click Enabled, and then click Modify.
c. In Edit DWORD Value, type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.

4. Restart the Network Time Service and set the Startup Type as Automatic.
a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
b. Scroll down to the Windows Time service and right click, and then restart the service.

c. After the service is restarted,


right click again, select Properties
and change the Startup Type to
“Automatic.”

5. Allow access to the Windows Firewall for the NTP default port: UDP port 123

Enabling NTP Service on the GDC Server


1. In the bottom section of the Control Panel, select [Admin Panel].

2. In the Log-In window,


a. Click [Focus] and click in the Password box.
b. Type in the password: configos
c. Click [Log In] to enter the Admin Panel.

3. In the Admin Panel menu options,


a. Select the menu [Network].
b. Then select the submenu [Network Time].

4. NTP Service Configuration page.


a. Check the box for Enable NTP service.
b. Enter the eth0 IP on your TMS machine.
c. Click [Ok].

5. Exit from the Admin Panel by selecting [Quit / Shutdown]  [Quit].


6. Check SMS screen for the accurate time in the top left hand corner.
