THE EFFECT OF GIVING 50% WATER SOLUTION OF BAY LEAVES TO

Abstract

backgrounds: One of the non-pharmacological therapies to lower blood sugar levels in type
2 diabetes mellitus patients is bay leaves which contain namely flavonoids, alkoloids,
saponins, tannins and polyphenols. However, there have not been many published studies on
the effect of bay leaf decoction on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Indonesia Research
purposes:Knowing the effect of giving bay leaf boiled water to control blood sugar levels in
patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Karang Pineapple Village Method: This study uses a
quantitative method, with a pre-experimental design with a pretest and posttest design. The
sample of this research is 25 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis
using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The majority of respondents were aged more than 50 years,
the last education of the majority of respondents was elementary education, the majority of
respondents were female, the majority of respondents did not work, and the majority had
suffered from diabetes mellitus for 1-10 years. MarkP-value (0.000) means that there is an
effect of giving 50% aqueous solution of boiled bay leaves to control blood sugar levels in
patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus Conclusion:Bay leaves are very influential in
controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 2 diabetes mellitus.
