Overview
STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER -
Title
CIVIL
Responsible for understanding the detailed scope of the project and full requirements as received from
client to produce the initial Architectural plans & full structural economic & safe Design & also
Purpose
Producing the BOQ for any Civil & Buildings / high rise building, School and Hospital Projects from
the proposed design.

Key Accountability

• Shall be having an excellent knowledge and skill in civil engineering & structural
design activities of Layouts/section and preparing the BOQs.

• Study tender documents including but not limited to Scope of works, Tender
Drawings, materials / equipment specifications, Bill of Quantities, General terms &
Conditions, specific Terms & Conditions, project milestones etc. to fully understand
the project requirement and producing the most optimized safe design for the tender
scope which achieving the minimum quantities.

• Prepare reports, designs, and drawings.

• Choosing the best economic design system for any structure considering project
execution time & other client requirements.

• Should be able to read and fully understand the soil geotechnical reports and using
its inputs to produce safe structural design.

• Use computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes.

• Well knowing, understanding, and applications of important design codes &

standard such like HCIS, ACI, ASTM, SBC & etc.
Submission Activities
• Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.

• Analyse configurations of the basic components of a structure.

• Liaise with professional staff such as architects and engineers.

• Inspect properties to evaluate the conditions and foundations.

• Review and manage the client’s enquiry process into a workable solution.

• Prepare the comprehensive clarifications from the design scope of the work to send
to Client.
• If BOQ/s are not provided by client, then he should have the full capability to
prepare the accurate BOQ/s as per the tender requirement.

• Verify the BOQs, as provided by the client for its accuracy

• Able to use experience to understand complicated technical information.

• Collect, analyze, and report data related to the project during the site visits.

• Sufficient and appropriate knowledge of the market prices.

• Responsible for providing complete quantity take-off, analysis, estimate, and studies
for all deliverables involved in the assigned scope including but not limited to
Material, Labor & equipment Cost.

• Suggestions to the Contract Manager or appropriate authority for contemplated


expenditures.

• Indirect cost support to contract manager from design point of view.

• Should have hands on experience of Software’s e.g., BIM 4D, Revit, AutoCAD,
MicroStation, MS Office and relevant software knowledge.
• STAAD, SAP, ETAB, Civil 3D.

• Should be capable of performing value Engineering of Client provided design.

• Be Agile to work under busy and package schedule

• Should have mid-level expertise to estimate BOQ from client provided design on
AUTO DESK REVIT Software

• Responsible for establishing and coordination between all discipline engineers for
proper understanding of scope of work and the design requirements.

• Support the Tender Team in Saudi Arabia with proper BOQ, material take-off,
Leadership Management sizing of equipment, specifications to Float enquiries into the market to collect offers
from Vendors / suppliers / sub-contractors.

• Providing value addition by optimizing the design and leading the discussion with
the client.

• Responsible for support of the procurement effort for equipment/ material and
services purchased directly from vendors.

Qualifications/Requirements
• 08-10 years Proven working experience in Design and Engineering for EPC
projects.
• Excellent knowledge of pre-bid/post-bid design activities in bidding of EPC
tenders.
Knowledge and Experience • Expert knowledge of all the specifications related to building project,
construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• Understanding all facets of the construction process.
• Excellent time and project management skills.

• Bachelor/ Master’s degree in the field of Civil/Structural Engineering from a

reputed University with excellent academic records.
