Experiment 1 Introduction to Power BI Date: 20/07/2023

Objective:
1. To download and install Microsoft Power BI Desktop
2. To get familiarization with various data visuals in Power BI
Software:

Introduction:
Microsoft Power BI comes with a free or paid version. The free version only provides Power
BI tools like Power BI Desktop and Power Q&A to dashboards. Whereas, in the Pro version
they provide services like live report sharing, Power View, and more Power BI apps. Power
BI Desktop is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The Power BI desktop app is used to
create reports, while Power BI Services (Software as a Service – SaaS) is used to publish the
reports, and Power BI mobile app is used to view the dashboards and reports.
Power BI Desktop: Data modeling, dashboard development, report creation, and data
extraction are all possible with Power BI Desktop, a desktop program. Power BI Desktop is
the desktop software for Windows.

Procedure:
1. Download and install Microsoft power BI
2. Load the data file officesupplies.csv
3. Create various visuals on the given data and format them.
4. Write inference from each visual with your own words.

Visuals: -
 Stacked Coloumn Chart

Inference: - The chart represents the sum of units of items sold in region and could find that in
the central region highest sales per year and maximum in the year 2014-15.

 Line Chart
Inference: - The line chart depicts the information of sum of unit price per month.
The maximum profit is displaying during the month of August.

 Pie Chart

Inference: - The maximum sales is achieved by Central region and lowest by the East region.

 Stacked Area Chart


Inference: - The highest performance during the year 2014-15 is achieved by representative
James based on the sum of unit’s price. For representative Thomas there is more gap exists to
improve his productivity.

 Funnel Chart

Inference: - The performance based on the sum of units is achieved by Richard apart from
price value. The least items are sold by Thomas and needs further improvement.

 Stacked Bar Chart


Inference: - As per the analysis the highest item sold is Binder among the other products.
Pencil is also the next set of demand item sold.

 Ribbon Chart: -

Inference – The maximum item which was consistently sold is the Binder by every
representative. The highest orders were processed by Richard among those pencil is the most
saleable product.

RESULT:
The various visuals suitable for the given data set have been created and the inference were
written.
