ALPINE SKI HOUSE 2

INTRODUCTION
The general purpose of a building transportation system is to
enable occupant and goods to move, or be moved, in a
reasonably for comfortable, quick, and efficient way. For large
or multi-storey building, building transportation system is
designed to minimize the occupant movement.

ELECTRIC LIFT

• In electric / roped lifts the car is raised and lowered by

traction steel ropes rather than pushed from below

• Electric/roped lifts components:

• 1. Control system

• 2. Electric motor

• 3. Sheave

• 4. Counterweight

• 5. Guide rails

ALPINE SKI HOUSE 4

LOCATION LIFT • PIT MUST PERMITS OVER TRAVEL &
WATER TIGHT WITH PROPER DRAINAGE
• BUFFER SITS TO THE BASE (SPRING /OIL)
TO REDUCE IMPACT
• ALLOWING AIR TO ESCAPE BELOW &
ABOVE MOVING CAR TO PREVENT AIR
PRESSURE BUILDING + SMOKE VENT
WITH UNOBSTRUCTED OPENINGS
• NO OTHER SERVICES SHOULD
ACCOMMODATE SHAFT
• CONSTRUCTED OF REINFORCED
CONCRETE / BRICKWORK ---SUFFICIENT
STRENGTH TO CARRY LOAD &
SUPERIMPOSED LOADS
LIFT
• FIRE RESISTANT

COMPONENTS
1. Counterweight

2. Guide rail

3. Control panel

4. Lift car

5. Two leaves side opening

ALPINE SKI HOUSE 6

Compenent Information

• Use to distribution weight around a

fulcrum
• Balance the elevator car
• Makes lifting the elevator car more
efficient

• Allows for the safe and precise

movement of the elevator car and
counterweight
• A safety system in case the elevator
car in emergency stop
• Consists of numbering of floor level of
the building
• Allow user to choose and press /
control the level following user need
• Enable lifts to stop at the level chosen

ALPINE SKI HOUSE 7

Component Information

• Used for transportation

• Able to carry and transport
both passenger and object

• Opening which also call door

• Opening which consists of two
leaves
• Open through sliding

ALPINE SKI HOUSE 8

MACHINE
ROOM
• Main machine which enable the lifts to
move
• Penthouse which is lower than normal
floor
• Build above lifts
• Consists of both electric motor and
control panel
ALPINE SKI HOUSE
COMPONENT

• Hold the power supply unit

• Control system
• Ensure safety
• Can use to turn on and off elevator when needed or during
emergency
• Located at the machine
• Used for up and down movement of elevator car
• Turning force by the electric motor is transmitted to the rope
winding drum/sheave to wind or unwind the rope
• Located at the machine room

ALPINE SKI HOUSE 10

• Sheave • Also known as rope winding drum
• Are equipped on electric mototr
• Used to wind and unwind elevator rope

CONCLUSION
Based on the experiment that has been done,
the objective of the experiment which is to
investigate the typical mechanical transportation
in the building and to examine visual inspection
of lift. The knowledge gained from the
experiment for building transportation only
suitable for a building that is have more than 4
floor. This use can make it easier for the
residents for daily use and is safe to use.
