VENTURI TUBE

MECHANISM EQUATION
Venturi tube allows flow rates
through pipes to be calculated by Bernoulli's Equation
measuring the difference in
pressure created by a contraction
in a pipe. Knowing the pipe
diameter, this velocity can be
converted into a flow rate. Venturi
Meters work based on the principles
found in Bernoulli's equation.

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
1) Less sensitive to erosion 1) Highly cost
due to smooth design of 2) Not useful for pipe <
venturi tube 76.2mm
2) More suitable for use
for dirty gas or liquid
3)Less sensitive to
upstream disturbance

REAL LIFE APPLICATION

Aviation
To measure the speed of the air around the plane.
Automotive
To measure the fuel and air distribution in carburettor
Medical
To measure the Volume flow of blood through vessels.
Chemical
To measure the Flow rate of chemical through pipes
