Composition Contest
20th Anniversary Edition

PURPOSE
In recognition of our 20th year as a duo as well as the 20th anniversary of our first composition
contest, this call for scores celebrates our group’s history and continues our mission to promote the
creation of new works for percussion duo.

1st Prize Winner

$2,000

Publication by Bachovich Music Publications (upon agreement by the winner)

Premiere of the work by QPD in 2024

Audio/Video recording of the work

Remote workshop(s) with QPD

2nd Prize Winner

$500

Publication by Bachovich Music Publications (upon agreement by the winner)

Possible premiere of the work by QPD in 2024

Possible audio/video recording of the work

Possible remote workshop(s) with QPD

COMPOSITION REQUIREMENTS
5-15 minute original work for percussion duo

Small to medium percussion set-up, with or without keyboard instruments, and may
include electronics. (i.e. keyboard duo, multi percussion duo, integrated setup of
instruments, percussion duo with pre-recorded electronics, etc)

Difficulty of the composition is left to the composer

Previously commissioned or published works may not be submitted

It is highly recommended that composers view QPD’s website (qpdmusic.com) for

examples of the duo’s existing repertoire and unique performing style.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
PDF version of the score must be submitted with the composer’s name on the score

If the score is not computer generated, the manuscript MUST be clearly notated

Recording or midi realization required

SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS

Bachovich Music Publications if receiving 1st or 2nd prize and elect to publish. I also agree that if my
composition receives 1st or 2nd prize it will be considered a commission by QPD. Failure to adhere to the
above rules may result in withdrawal of any prize that may be awarded. QPD reserves the right to award no
prize(s) if there is not a suitable entry. Additionally, QPD may award “honorable mentions” if desired.
