A. Materials Powerpoint Presentation, module, paper, ballpen

B. References ADM LM Module 1 pp. 1-12, MELCS p. 295, BOW p. 349

IV. Procedure
Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Classroom Reminders
B. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation Give the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of the following pairs of
dissimilar fractions. Write your answers on your answer sheet.

3.) 4/7 and 1/3
4.) 2/10 and 3/5
5.) 2/8 and 1/3
2. Modeling

What is the sum of 2/3 and 1/4?

Hint: Since the denominators of the fractions are not the same, we
need to change them into similar fractions for we cannot add
directly.

Here are some examples for you to study.

3. Guided Practice Find the value of N. Add the following fractions and express your
answer to the lowest term, if possible.
1.) 8/10 + 2/15 = N
2.) 2/4 + 2/6 = N
3.) 5/10 + 2/12 = N
4.) ¼ + 1/3 = N
5.) 1/5 + 3/5 = N
4. Independent Practice Add the following fractions. Express your answer to the simplest
form or lowest term, if needed.
1. ½ + 3/8 = ____
2. 2/5 + 3/11 = ____
3. 4/7+ 3/5 = ____
4. ¾ + 1 ½ = ____
5. 2 ¼ + 2/6 = ____

5.Closure/ In adding simple fractions without regrouping:
Generalization -Find the Least Common Denominator (LCD).
-Rename the dissimilar fractions to their equivalent fractions using
the LCD.
-Add the numerators. Then, write the sum over the common
denominator.
-Express the answer in simplest form or lowest term, if needed.
IV. Assessment
1) 2/7 + ½ = 4. 2/6 + ½ =

2) 2/5 + 5/10 = 5. 2/10 + ½ =

3) 7/10 + 2/10 =
V. Assignment
Add the following fractions and express your answer to the lowest term, if possible.
1.) 3/10 + 2/5 =
2.) ¼ + 3/7 =
3.) 4/9 + 2/10 =
4.) ¼ + 1/5 =
5.) 1/9 + 8/10 =
VI. Remarks

4x ___ = ____
3x ___ = ____
2x ___ = ____
1x ___ = ____
0x ___ = ____
