an issue or problem in science and technology. Then answer the questions, 2 or 3 liners for each
question.

1. What is the issue or problem being shown the photograph?

 The issue depicted is about air pollution. According to World Health Organization
(WHO), air pollution is contamination of the indoor and outdoor environment by any chemical,
physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.

2. How does this specific issue or problem impact the well-being of the society today?
 The issue impacts the society in their human health because of being exposed in air
pollution and it is very alarming. There are many diseases and illnesses that can bring human to
risk, from chronic bronchitis to lung cancer, nasal irritation and swelling, and inflammatory
effect on the heart which can also elevate blood pressure.

3. Why is important for people to study and learn about STS, especially in addressing the issue or
problem shown in the picture?
 STS applies methods drawn from history, philosophy, and sociology to study the nature
of science and technology and view their value and place in society. Learning about STS helps
people to get a better understanding of the situation they live in and to solve the issues and
problems in Science and Technology like the air pollution which one of the most issue in well-
being of the society.
