KWENTO NG BUHAY: A Documentary Film of CICL (Children in Conflict with the Law)
Reflection Paper

The documentary entitled KWENTO NG BUHAY represented by Agot 13 yrs. old

a son of Mr. and Mrs. Poon, his parents was hardworking parents which resulted to lack
of guidance to Agot because both of them early in the morning leaved the house then
late night will return. Agot has full of ambitions/dreams in his life but because of poverty
he lost interest to face the reality in this world, by that he was influenced by street
children wherein he tried using rugby, as what he said he used it more than 4 times.
According to the Social Welfare Officer Fernandez, the reason why Agot got to that
situation because of the lack of appliances such as TV so that he feels boring then he
will go to “Bayan” where he enjoyed the most.
Agot wanted to finished his studies as well as his parents, the innocent child want
to build a new house in the future. Unfortunately, his parents surrendered Agot to Social
Welfare because they wanted to gave up Agot as their son but the Social Welfare
Officers helped and pushed them to continue guiding Agot. Based on the documentary I
watched I realized that having lack of parenting/guidance it can really affect the lifestyle
of the children, even the parents wanted to grow their child stable or happy but if you as
parents don’t have attention to your child it will become useless. On the other hand,
though according to the quote “friendship is one thing which gets kids through life and
makes them more understanding and caring about another person. It defines them and
encourages them to become compassionate, reliable adults, and trustworthy; making
their future way brighter and better”. Sometimes, we must aware where we are
belonged, we must choose our circle of friends wisely.
In conclusion, the documentary was really timely because as what we observed it
is really happening in today’s generation there are a lot of children in the street being
vagabond. I hope that this documentary would be an eye-opener to everyone let this be
a lesson that if you are not capable enough of raising a child, you can’t provide the daily
needs of a child we must not take a risk. Children are innocent, they must be protected
and must be guided instead of abusing them.
