Perytons were twisted and depraved magical creatures that appeared to be a cross between a giant

eagle and a demonic-looking, fang-toothed stag. They were known and feared for tearing the
beating hearts from their victims' chests.

Comments: I had never even heard of a Peryton in my 30+ years of role playing until a couple years
ago when my party was accosted by one in my second 5E adventure. I immediately became a fan.

I love thrown together creatures like this. Part deer, part eagle, some games have them with a wolf
head, too, and earlier versions cast a human shadow to be even freakier. Gotta love it.
